@mitsuhiko @sixhobbits Dario may believe the statement is intellectually correct but also be more spiritually hopeful that we may arrive at better outcomes. Part of the signaling may be spur others into actively thinking about policies and remedies in case this is the outcome.

@sixhobbits I'm not sure I subscribe to that narrative. If you really think you're building something that very likely destroys society then you should stop and not ask others to clean it up. I would believe people at Anthropic must be more optimistic than Dario's framing would suggest.

Does anyone actually believe this? In the historical (and widely accepted) definition of the word, genocide is the wiping out of a group of people, but Gaza's population dropped 4% since Oct 7. I can't tell if it's a real thing or people mean to say that Israel is indiscriminately k*lling people and possibly committing war crimes and that's a very bad thing (definitely a valid position but not quite genocide)?
