Reading the news and tourist numbers are down. Vietnam is now number 1 for Chinese tourists. Price here are increasing. Everyone is defensive about the BBC documentary which in my opinion is pretty spot on. More bank accounts of foreigners to be frozen. More difficulties with visa requirements. One week marijuana is legal and the next it’s not again but perhaps it will be again. Why is ANYONE in Thailand surprised that the country is losing tourist appeal? A country like Vietnam is opening its arms also to long term foreign stays. Thailand is tightening the grip. Floods. Most dangerous traffic on the planet. All of that is to me what makes Thailand the place I call home. It’s crazy here and I love it. But the fact that people in charge sits and pretends they don’t understand why the number of tourists is declining is downright laughable.
