At @NeuroAmerica #AN2023, @colleenmstack: opioid amnestic syndrome and CHANTER syndrome are due to metabolic or mitochondrial failure of gray matter +/- anoxic brain injury. Lots of inflammatory changes, apoptosis, demyelination on pathology.

At @NeuroAmerica #AN2023, @colleenmstack: Major takeaways: Have a high suspicion for coingestions (fentanyl + cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, etc). Bilateral symmetric abnormality on MRI (T2 + DWI) ➡️worry about drugs. Fentanyl may not show up on typical tox screen.

At @NeuroAmerica #AM2023, Dr. Colleen Stack @colleenmstack (one of my best friends and favorite people in the world) is about to talk on opioid amnestic syndrome and other neurologic sequelae from drugs of abuse. Lots of cases she has seen as a neurohospitalist.

Opioid amnestic syndrome we see regularly in the hospital. I hadn’t heard it named before. Review by @colleenmstack regarding MRI findings and clinical course. #AM2023 Another reminder for me to finish the Hulu series Dope Sick.

@DailyLoud That lady is endowed both behind and before but ladies like this are mostly promiscuous and will leave you immediately you encounter some sort of financial or mental problem. Ladies like this are just for fun and that's it, don't commit to them.

@jenbegakis @andreavbecker Omg, so I'm not the only one? I still have this dream, and I too have a PhD. Maybe these two things are related. There's only a small subset of people who'd consider this scenario to be one of the worst imaginable. So it makes sense it would be in our "anxiety dream" repertoire.

Does anything focus the mind like the 1 AM phone call for a potassium of 8.8, not hemolyzed? What is the equivalent in other specialties besides nephrology?

My heart breaks for all survivors of sexual assault and abuse. I am so sad that our country is failing them when they need us most. Doctors must be able to give people the medical care they need, when and where they need it.

One year ago, I took medication to end a very wanted, but unfortunately unviable, pregnancy. I did so after discussing my options with my doctor. Ending a pregnancy is a medical decision, and every woman should be able to make their own decision.
