She states that when Mkhwanazi sought postponement in January due to his mother's death, he was at pains to convince them she was his birth mother, not a stepmother or relative. His attorney also indicated she was his mother. When documents were later filed, it was discovered that the deceased was only 10 years older than Mkhwanazi, raising concerns that he may have misled the Commission to avoid appearing. Counsel notes that the Home Affairs letter (dated 13 April 2026, received yesterday) shows Mkhwanazi's birth certificate listing William and Foleni Maria Mkhwanazi as his parents.
