@calebsmxlti The avatar state is a tricky writing problem. Obviously it needs to be almost unchallengeable in its power to meet the legends of the avatar, but you can’t have it winning every fight. The current strategy has been either making the user not able to do it at will or remove it.

Aang didn’t have control over the avatar state. Korra did. That’s the issue yall gettin at 😭

The worst writing decision they made in recent stories was reducing the Avatar State to just a power-up. What made it compelling before was how it felt like a terrifying possession overtaking the Avatar’s body, not something you’d pop out after every minor inconvenience

@star_boy_80 We know she didn’t “master” at least fire until she was 16 though. Though Aang at 12 is really only a master of air and water and likely also took a few more years to master earth and fire.

@hayleyafterriot @introvert342_ @calebsmxlti The way it works appears to be that the lion turtle added energy bending into Aang and that’s now a new avatar power like the 4 elements. Aang showed korra how to do it here but even with past lives gone she still has the knowledge. This is the best guess until we get more info.
