Some of the best stories are written by the people closest to the work. Meet Jeffrey Mason, whose work explores why a handful of special economic zones transformed economies while thousands of others fell short.

Just outside Nairobi, Tatu City is building more than an industrial zone. It's building an entire city. It's a glimpse of what the most successful SEZs can become. Learn why, and discover the other SEZs reshaping economies in the full article by @JeffJMason.

First they give you a process. Then the process gets complicated. Then the process becomes the punishment. We're solving this. at -- commenda.io @CommendaHQ @commendamedia

What exactly is the economic and legal foundation that makes the American Technocapitalist Machine run? I interviewed @andreasklinger and wrote about the project to unify European corporate law and capital markets and fulfill the potential of the European Project. Europe, despite the memes, is poised to become an economic giant, if it so chooses. Read and subscribe below!

Europe has 450 million people, a $23 trillion economy, and some of the world's best founders. So why can't it function as a single market? Read @spenceraviav in Issue I of Commenda Media, online or in print today.

I’ve turned our hyperbaric chamber into a nesting space. I’ve been slowly working my way into @TinkeredThinker White Mirror for positive future visions. Got this new @freeshreeda Commenda magazine. Need oxygen for this much thinking.

There are nearly 7,000 special economic zones around the world. Most have failed. The few that succeeded transformed economies and changed the course of entire countries. What separates the exceptions from the rule? Read @JeffJMason in Issue I of Commenda Media.

"America produces 0.04% of the world's commercial gross tonnage. Americans currently own 1.89% of global shipping in terms of dead weight tonnage. The gap between production and ownership is even more striking in China. China (including Hong Kong) built 54.6% of the world's shipping in gross tonnage terms, but owns only 20.1%. China builds 1,271.1 times as much shipping as the United States, but owns only 10.6 times as much. I f the United States wants to compete with China in shipping, ownership is a considerably more viable strategy than shipbuilding, particularly once the economies of scale that have already concentrated in East Asia are accounted for." from @CalebDPetitt in the new @commendamedia

If the priority is getting new hulls in the water ASAP, then the US must allow construction in allied shipyards. That's just the math of the situation.
