No matter the final ruling on the voters list scandal involving the Republican Party of Alberta, the Centurion Project, and David Parker, the damage to the separatist movement is devastating and permanent. Even if it ends in just a fine—or nothing at all—the affair has exposed the group as reckless amateurs who cannot be trusted with basic politics. At a fragile time for Canada, this blunder has done far more harm than any punishment ever could. This scandal has shattered the tiny shred of credibility the movement had left—and there was almost none to begin with. Alberta separatists have a long record of self-inflicted disasters. Past leaders have called for “armed resistance,” spouted racist rants about who belongs in Alberta, and made seditious claims that Ottawa’s authority should simply be ignored. The voters list mess is just the latest proof that they keep undermining themselves with inflammatory words and shady tactics. Canadians will never forget this. In a vulnerable moment for the country, these separatists chose deception instead of honesty. Now they hide with a bag of shame over their heads, too afraid to show their faces and stand openly for their beliefs. With their tiny movement and zero courage, they have destroyed their own cause. I once watched a woman try to rearrange half a plane like it was musical chairs. Supporters of the Alberta Independence movement are exercising actual democracy, which clearly annoys you. You can stand up for what you believe in without resorting to embarrassing schoolyard bully tactics. It’s unbecoming. Your supporters deserve better.

Now that separatists have access to the voters’ list (containing contact information and address of every Albertan), they set up an internal search engine for looking up Albertans. This unprecedented illegal leak, aimed at helping them win the referendum, puts Albertans at risk.
