Excellent piece by a Nigerian writer kicked out of a prestigious fellowship from the National Book Critics Circle program in America due to his traditional Christian Views on sexuality. Bonus points to Mr. Jésùyẹmí for also being a big fan of W.B. Yeats (to my mind, the greatest 20th century English Language poet by some distance) whose "On Being Asked for a War Poem" (written during WWI) he reprints within the article. Yeats, a right-wing Irish nationalist and Senator in the Irish Free State, knew both politics and poetry well, as well as the dangers of being forced to mix them.

Debuted in @compactmag today. Last year, I got kicked out of a fellowship over my faith. This is the story of that affair. But It is bigger than me. I hope I did some measure of justice to it. Thanks to @matthewschmitz for handling the piece well. compactmag.com/article/the-wr…

Six years later, it’s baffling to think that people believed that such hysterical antics somehow amounted to “progressivism”….progressively elitist and idiotic, perhaps @ErnestJesuyemi in @compactmag

The National Book Critics Circle offered @ErnestJesuyemi a fellowship—and then asked him to leave the program not long after. As his story reveals, the American literary world's commitment to "diversity" remains highly selective... compactmag.com/article/the-wr…

The National Book Critics Circle offered a black writer a choice: He could leave their fellows program, or continue in it secretly. He chose to leave. Today, he tells his story. compactmag.com/article/the-wr…

Cyberlibertarianism—the idea that digital technology facilitates freedom a long as long as the state doesn’t meddle with it—has become a zombie ideology. It’s past time to chop off its head. substackfwd.xyz/?url=https://c…

Traditional religion has declined, but that doesn’t mean we’ve secularized. Instead, what has triumphed is a different vision of religion invented by Helena Blavatsky, Rudolph Steiner, Joseph Campbell, and others: compactmag.com/article/how-oc…
