Instagram removed our page with almost 150k followers with no way to appeal the takedown. Tens of millions of people who viewed our content every month have been cut off from one of the few alternative media outlets with reporters and sources in Palestine, Lebanon, China, Cuba, and beyond. This is not an isolated incident. We see it as part of an escalating pattern of information warfare by big tech monopolies, deeply intertwined with the ruling elite — and a concerning rise in censorship targeting alternative media, directed by Washington and Brussels. We are working hard to restore access to our millions of monthly viewers. In the meantime, tell your friends and comrades to join us on Telegram @comrawire.

[ CONTENT WARNING ] Photos circulating online show the brutality of the German colonial rule in Namibia. The photos show the back of a Namibian labourer covered in raised scars from years of getting whipped by the German settler Ludwig Cramer. The photographs, taken in 1912 by missionary Johann Jakob Irle, was used as evidence in the colonial trial that convicted Cramer of serious bodily injury against ten African workers. It resurfaces as Namibia enters the final stage of reparations negotiations with Germany over the 1904–1908 Herero and Nama genocide, talks in which Berlin has formally rejected the legal term "reparations."

Have you ever heard the term Nakba? On this day, Palestinians commemorate the Nakba — the Catastrophe — the mass expulsion of Palestinians in 1948, carried out to establish the Israeli colonial entity. [comra]'s Lama Ghosheh, from occupied Palestine, documents the story of Al-Haram — a Palestinian village wiped off the map in 1948. Al-Haram was one of over 400 towns and villages deliberately razed by Zionist militias during that period, as more than 750,000 Palestinians were driven from their homes. Palestinian scholar Joseph Massad describes the Nakba not as a historical event but as an ongoing process — a continuous attempt by Zionist colonisers to erase Palestine and its people, most visibly today in the mass displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank.

Israeli PM Netanyahu's office has said he "secretly visited" the UAE and met President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed during the US-Israeli war on Iran, claiming the meeting led to a "historic breakthrough" in UAE-Israeli relations. The UAE Foreign Minister denied the visit, stating that all ties with Tel Aviv are based solely on the US-brokered Abraham Accords, with no secret arrangements. On Tuesday, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee revealed that Tel Aviv deployed Iron Dome batteries and personnel to the UAE to counter Iranian strikes — the result, he said, of an "extraordinary relationship" between the two countries. Since late February, Iran struck the UAE with 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,265 drones targeting military and logistical bases supporting the offensive against Tehran. Iran has repeatedly criticised US-Israeli-Emirati ties, with Foreign Minister Araghchi saying Netanyahu's office has publicly revealed what Iran's security services had long since uncovered.

Zakaria Qadis, 47, was shot and killed by Israeli forces as he attempted to cross the Israeli segregation wall in the town of Al-Ram, north of occupied Jerusalem. Hamas condemned the killing, denouncing it as part of "the repeated field executions by the occupation army against our Palestinian people," which it said are "added to the record of brutal Zionist crimes that are escalating at a dangerous pace." The incident reflects a broader pattern of desperation gripping the occupied West Bank. As Israeli forces tighten their grip — demolishing civilian infrastructure, destroying economic livelihoods, and pushing the population toward displacement and economic collapse — growing numbers of Palestinians have been forced to attempt crossings of the segregation wall into Israeli-occupied lands in search of undocumented work to support their families. Since October 2023, Israeli forces have entirely revoked work permits for Palestinians seeking employment in Israeli-controlled areas — a policy critics say is deliberately designed to deepen the economic strangulation of the West Bank.

[ NEW ] Kenyan police arrested at least 11 protesters outside the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi on Tuesday, as Emmanuel Macron and President William Ruto hosted more than thirty African heads of state inside. Police fired teargas and shots into the air near Uhuru Highway to disperse demonstrators marching toward the Kenyatta International Conference Centre. The Communist Party Marxist Kenya condemned the detentions, describing the Ruto government as a "neocolonial and comprador administration" that chose to criminalize anti-imperialist solidarity while hosting foreign capital. The Africa Forward Summit is the first France-Africa gathering ever held in an Anglophone country. It follows France's military expulsion from West Africa. Inside the summit, Macron announced $27 billion in French investment across the continent.

On this day four years ago, Israeli forces killed Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh as she covered military raids in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. She was wearing a clearly marked press vest when she was shot dead. Autopsy results confirmed she was struck by a bullet that caused complete destruction of brain tissue and skull bones, despite wearing a helmet. Independent investigations by CNN, The Associated Press and The Washington Post all concluded she had been deliberately targeted by Israeli forces. Since her killing, Israel has killed over 258 journalists and media workers, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reported. The CPJ has also recently demanded a "public progress update" from US authorities on the FBI probe into her death, stating that "the effectively stagnant status of this case is inconsistent with ensuring the security of US citizens anywhere in the world."
