@manolosavi dell i think probably comes up short in the resolution department, since their only 100W PD monitors that i know of are all 4k and under. if you really don't need > 4k you can maybe get away with something that's not the apple display, but higher resolution + 100W PD is tough

@manolosavi i have no idea about color accuracy so that's on you, but in terms of resolution + power, i think you'll be hard pressed to find things > 4k that also support 90-100W PD. eve spectrum may fit the bill for 4k + 100W PD, but they're potentially vaporware

are there any USB C displays that actually support charging the 16” MBP besides the $6k apple pro display? none of the ones i’ve seen seem to be able to supply enough to charge the computer under load…

@manolosavi if you can get an interview booked before whenever you next travel that's great, but you can also do enrollment on arrival back in the US on a return @ SFO if it's where you clear customs / immigration: cbp.gov/travel/trusted…

obviously totally useless today, no need to go do the interview etc right away, but hopefully can get it in time for whenever i can travel next

@chenosaurus yeah, command key works. you gotta hit a hardware switch on the side of the keyboard to change which mode (win / osx) you have it on, but other than that everything works

@chenosaurus for what it's worth i keep it on windows mode in linux as well because i like to keep the super -> win key mapping rather than cmd -> win key mapping. let me test it real quick on osx, i'm sure i have a macbook somewhere

@JeffWMontague eh for what it's worth i think a lot of the issues are tied to SMS / MMS. i very rarely text people and don't run into these sorts of issues, it's just that not many people are on hangouts anymore so i gotta run the entire gamut of apps (whatsapp/fb/signal/telegram/etc)

@JeffWMontague lol don't get me started. richard and i bitch about this on a pretty regular schedule. they had chat locked up back in the old gchat days and somehow managed to fumble it so hard into the mess it is now.
