@AgentZeroNine @DestinLegarie seems like you have selective hearing. since 2024, over over 900 from SIE, over 600 from bungie, and other multiple studio closures including bluepoint, firewall, etc. Not as many as MS - but dont be disingenuous in your argument here.

@DestinLegarie Because there's no equivalent to Microsoft/Xbox's mismanagement. It would be like comparing the casualties of World War 2 to Vietnam. Then there's the speed in which MS/Xbox destroyed those studios.

My point is there was no clean version of this. Without consolidation, we still get layoffs, closures, and maybe Bungie collapsing sooner. With consolidation, we get layoffs and restructuring. All the acquisitions were a symptom of systemic issues, not the root cause.

I dont think steam charts are really relevant here given that by May 20th 2025 they noted it was the best launch for doom ever, fastest to reach 3m players. Around the time they posted this, there were only 8k concurrent on steam. I think your argument breaks down here

On ZOS layoffs: not surprising, justified. After years of neglect, ESO was finally taking things more seriously, but the old guard quickly reverted to bad habits. I hope the upper ups take a deep look into ESO's great potential and steer the game towards an engaging future.

Sometimes I'm surprised at Donovan's standing in this town. Since trading for him, he's been a top-10 player, first and second team all-NBA, massive playoff moments (unlike other CLE stars), has signed multiple extensions and is one of the most likeable superstars in that league

Over the last few weeks, we've seen videos concerning a handful of armor set bonuses that are presenting balance issues within Crucible environments. Two in particular deal with health regeneration and rapid Super generation. While this can be fun to discover, it presents poor experiences on the receiving end; opposing teams in Trials having Supers by round 2, or consistent 1v1 engagements being determined by a set bonus triggering. While these set bonuses will continue to function in PvE modes across the game, we'd like to prevent these balance issues from impacting the Crucible moving forward, and will be disabling the following: 💠Grasp of Avarice Dungeon - 4 Piece Bonus - Overflowing Coffers 💠💠While you have stacks of Untold Greed, Orbs of Power and Elemental pickups provide more of their respective energy, and Strand Tangles deal increased damage. When your shields are broken, all stacks are converted into a fountain of Orbs of Power. 💠Duality Dungeon - 4 Piece Bonus - Bittersweet 💠💠When you stow a weapon, restore health based on the number of Built Bitter stacks lost. We will continue to monitor player reports in case more set bonuses present balance issues, and take action when needed.

@PaulTassi Marathon is cheap to maintain, it's going to last at least a year and probably more than that.

I'm becoming less convinced Marathon will actually get a full year from Sony. Or there will be some sort of metric goals that are do or die right as that hits

@PaulTassi Not hating on Marathon, but I don't think it lasts the year. I think we get season 3 and then maintenance mode. If lucky maybe season 4, but it feels bleak. I think Sony dissolves Bungie completely.

There are lots of issues and reasons why we saw the layoffs at Bungie this week. I will say that I don't think the #WeWantDestiny3 campaign helped much and probably caused more harm than good.
