@connorrmccarthy @WillManidis Yes, I think he’s faking that and in fact Jerry Seinfeld was/is *desperate* to be a World Famous Comedian. He’s made savvy format decisions and promoted the absolute fuck out of himself for 50 years. He didn’t have to do that to keep working.

@OGWiseman @WillManidis The point is not that the wildly successful do not grind or strive; it’s that they don’t view it as grinding or striving. Getting to do the work is the reward for him. So it’s not grinding to a goal or striving for an outcome. It’s about doing it well so he can do more of it.

@RedRaiderGator The issue people have with offside is that it wasn’t called this way for decades until VAR. That’s why they want the line to change. I don’t get why that’s so controversial. The purpose of the rule is better served by moving the line back.

@RedRaiderGator The purpose of a false start penalty is to ensure that the play starts on the snap. Twitching does affect that. You cant let offensive players move at all bc that will induce defensive players to move. The other examples are boundaries. Nobodys complaining about those in soccer.

A defenders hand being on the line of scrimmage shouldn't be offsides. An offensive linemen twitching his thigh shouldn't be a false start. A player with his toe on the line should be a 3. A baseball being half an inch in foul territory should be fair. See? It's dumb.

@Americanfbcamp @stesup Part of being adult is learning how to communicate. If an emergency comes up and you have a prior commitment you can text or email someone that you need to reschedule. Moving on for this is harsh and probably overly penal. But “something else came up” isn’t an excuse in life.

Players walk down the line of site when in the rough all the time. This is ridiculous with the minimal amount of evidence and there’s zero chance Bryson DeChambeau intentionally tried to gain an advantage here.

I really, really don't understand how we got here with the Birkdale #discourse. The Open Championship scoring has *always* been dictated by the conditions. A baked out summer means the rough will be lighter, as the R&A does not spend the lead up manipulating the conditions to make the rough more penal. They even had the rough areas roped off for months to ensure trolleys weren't walked through the area and so they wouldn't get trampled down. The greens are not "soft." It's just that the wind has not blown significantly, especially in the morning. And with fairways running this fast and modern technology, it's going to be easy for the best players in the world to spin wedges. Even in the most baked out Opens, greens get watered to stay alive. See the attached images for Carnoustie in 2018 when we last saw a summer like this. (And if you really want to nerd out, they're measured at 0.379 inches of firmness, which is considered "firm" and above the level of "receptive" and "soft." It gets a "free pass" because the championship is presenting a natural style of golf that requires creativity, strategy, patience, and even luck. It different than the highly manipulated US Open and PGA Championship setups. The Open Championship is weird. It's quirky. It's unpredictable. It's not a math equation, and it's what a lot of us love about it. If you're watching it expecting to be simulation of a tournament, you're missing out on what makes it special.
