@IDmeSupport you replied to this that I need to DM you but your DMs are closed. Sending it again: I submitted a legal name change over a week ago and it still says pending 1-3 days. Support is just an AI bot that gives me the instructions again. Can you help?

I always see #marketingstrategy advice to rank projects by impact and effort. But I'm most productive when I do what seems the most fun. Is it possible for a whole team to do that? Assuming there's a minimum impact bar, maybe "fun" is just an indicator of person/task fit?

The last time @lauramarelic and I shut down a business, we founded a better one, moved to Berlin, and travelled the world. And yet the better @lifelikelabs does, the more I fear losing our clients, not finding more, and needing to shut down. Irrational fears are exhausting.

It's amazing how often the best path forward is "do nothing."

Is it wrong that I feel a bit weird every time I sign an NDA for a #climateTech organization? Even nonprofits ask for them. Maybe it's too optimistic to think that there's enough innovation to go around. Are there cases of failure due to "idea stealing" in climate tech?

When I focused on that, I felt an immediate sense of gratitude that seemed to relieve the urge to refresh my email. Thanks for all the help everyone :)

I spend a lot of time obsessively waiting for one person to email me back. In that mindset, everything else is a backdrop for the one response that "really" matters. But this morning, I realized that yesterday during that trance, I'd been offered help by at least 7 people.🧵

6. Flow (Mac App): Simple pomodoro timer that takes over your screen during breaks. 7. Laptop Only (Strategy): I only use my laptop for distracting sites so that I can use these tools.

Trying to figure out how to participate on the internet without being addicted. So far, a few tools have helped: 1. LinkedIn Feed Blocker: View profiles and message without getting distracted. 2. Minimal Theme For Twitter: Hide everything except the compose box. ...5 more in 🧵

I'm realizing that I've always held this incredibly naive, unsupported theory that everyone will eventually believe the threat is real (because of some big fire, flood, or drought) and change. In reality, it'll probably be like movements that get <50% support before succeeding.

Even when Rome faced an existential threat of invasion and had no land owning soldiers left to recruit, conservative Roman senators opposed reforms allowing poor men to join the army. They didn't have a better defense plan, they just didn't want that one. They would lose status.

A piece of news today... "Republican Senators — especially those from energy rich states — worried that Raskin would discourage banks from lending money to fossil fuel companies" - @NPR ...reminded me of ancient Rome. A 🧵from likely-incorrect-definitely-cliche Rome guy

A selfish pitch for working on #climateTech 1. There is a huge, growing number of jobs and business opportunities 2. A #climate job reduces #climateanxiety 3. The community helps newcomers 4. Most folks in it are self taught 5. It intersects every industry and skillset

I wonder whether anyone has a recipe for being a sales or marketing person in 2022 without being addicted to the internet? As the person responsible for finding new studio projects, how do I stop myself from constantly checking email, slack, linkedin, loom watches, twitter, etc?

This structure feels better, but doesn't account for Parkinson's law: "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion." Maybe we'll add a shot clock or something for each question in the future?

So for our second, we put a list of roughly prioritized questions into a Kanban board. We wrote about them each privately beforehand. Then we spent two days picking one question at a time to discuss until we reached a conclusion and picked off the next one that called to us.

As remote founders @lifelikelabs we have a quarterly-ish, in-person, two-day meeting (we call it BizJam) where we work "on the business" and go out to fancy vegan restaurants on "our company card." One lesson: I think there’s a sweet spot for the amount of meeting structure. 🧵
