@Bialynian I honestly think we need to find another striker/attack-minded midfielder to go tandem with Cuypers, we have enough defensive/center mids with what we have now and Goretzka adds to that tally

I think this is the real choice: Fire with Lewandowski + Goretzka, or Fire with just Cuypers. I don't think Goretzka is seriously considering Chicago without Lewandowski. #cf97

@Bialynian I trust Gregg has a plan. That being said, we need to make moves happen now; the rest of the league has strengthened as well and we need to keep pace

@ChicagoFanMike Is selling Hugo a mistake? Yes, absolutely, but it’s one we should be able to absorb. We just have to sign the right players to fill gaps. I still trust Gregg to get things done. Hasn’t failed us so far.

@conorzale We don’t have a goal scorer either, Robert Lewadowski is 37 years old. He’s not gonna be playing a full 90 minutes every week. Selling Hugo Cuypers was possibly the greatest mistake this club has ever made. Selling low on a striker in his prime who’s leading the league in goals.

Would have loved to have kept him on the team, seems like bad business from the Fire. Great to have Lewa, but now once again we have a goalscorer with no one to create chances . If we sign Goretzka (another DM) that unbalances our midfield. Need an attack-minded mid next. #cf97

@ChicagoFanMike While he may not play the full 90, to say Lewa isn’t a goal scorer is madness. He had 14 goals with Barca this past season alone, plus 2 assists and went the full 90 minutes on more than one occasion for them AND the Polish national team.

@w3stw3stw3st Maybe get a U22 guy who can play both as a W/CAM/CF, have him work off Lewa a bit and can still play a starting role if needed

if this is true, there needs to be a serious move made for a legitimate (and preferably U22) CF if Lewy isn’t a Messi level success you risk breaking up a contender (that is in large part centered around Hugo) for a guy who may not be playing when the new stadium opens #cf97

For those asking: the Chicago Fire have switched to a 3 DP / 3 U-22 model for the rest of the season, with Puso Dithejane no longer counted as a U-22 Initiative player. 🇿🇦 Bamba, Cuypers, and Lewandowski are the DPs. D'Avilla, Mbokazi, and Radojević are the U-22s.
