@celsoliveira_ 29 isn’t an old player, that’s when a striker is in his prime. That is when their value is at its peak. The Fire shouldn’t have let him go, but the least they could’ve done is ask for more than a lousy 7 million.

Lewandowski’s arrival pushed Chicago over the senior roster limit. Cuypers is 29, and still had the trade value to fix it — Monterrey paid $ 7.5-8M. A lot of money for an older player! But… clearly — MLS keeps buying the name, then selling the workhorse to afford it.

@conorzale We don’t have a goal scorer either, Robert Lewadowski is 37 years old. He’s not gonna be playing a full 90 minutes every week. Selling Hugo Cuypers was possibly the greatest mistake this club has ever made. Selling low on a striker in his prime who’s leading the league in goals.

Would have loved to have kept him on the team, seems like bad business from the Fire. Great to have Lewa, but now once again we have a goalscorer with no one to create chances . If we sign Goretzka (another DM) that unbalances our midfield. Need an attack-minded mid next. #cf97

The only reason he didn’t go for that amount is because he’s in the MLS, but that doesn’t mean he’s any less of a player. He’s easily the best in the MLS.

I could see him scoring 10+ goals, not to mention the chemistry between him and Raul is already built. I’d take that over whatever pathetic fee FOSUN are able to get.
