@Dr_DewSweep Yes. Only caveat for this being where course design allows it. Unfortunately, some developers seem to want a quarter mile between holes.

@JohnMorton215 Fazio is perfectly capable of designing some of the best courses in the world and has done some masterpieces. He frankly just does way too many jobs and waters down his good work, but few of us would turn down the money he makes to do it.

Every time I think I finally have my Low H.I. at a spot where I can't get soft capped, I am proven wrong. The only proper solution at this point is new clubs, right?

Jason Kubel turns 44 today & is one of the most popular players to ever play for the Twins. He had some big moments like this 485 ft blast in Game 163.

@drakesmith__ After the first 60 balls, I often start simulating holes. What we need is a range that has dedicated patches of rough on the tee box. Logistically speaking, it's a terrible idea, but it would be so much nicer for practice than taking a shag bag out on the course.

Practicing golf should look a lot like how you practiced sports as a kid. In basketball and football, you ran plays, that's the equivalent to block practice in golf. But then you scrimmaged. And everybody knows plays run perfectly until there's a defense. The range is no different. Everything looks great until you get to the course. Start stress-testing your range sessions. How many 7-irons in a row can you keep within a 15-yard dispersion? How many drivers can you put in a simulated fairway? Keep score. Create consequences. That's scrimmaging. And it's the missing piece in most golfers' practice.

@thwacknicklaus I've got too much ghrelin in the system for that. However, it's always high protein food. Powder, protein bar, or sugar free jerky, since they fit in the bag nicely.

@ChuckRosin @SHistorians @SureThingCap I was at Hazeltine in 2009 and still cant believe what that kicked-off. Also cant believe he didnt break through during 2012 or 2013, but we all know why the drought went so long. I blame Haney. But from 1999 to 2008, Tiger was the greatest golfer we've ever seen.

@conservmn @SHistorians @SureThingCap Can't disagree with any of that. The two things that get me is Tiger went 40 majors in his prime without getting a win. I still believe Trevino talked himself out of being able to play Augusta. But there were mitigating factors with him and AGNC..

@ChuckRosin @SHistorians @SureThingCap For me, there does come a point when Tiger's dominance in tournaments with much larger field sizes end the debate. It's a bit of the same problem with Snead. Great as he was, the depth of field just drops him below the likes of Trevino and Phil for me. Tiger revolutionized golf.

@conservmn @SHistorians @SureThingCap That's why my 16 - 15 or 11 - 10 works. Hagen leads either way. I understand why people put him in a category below Tiger but I'm trying not to penalize anyone for when they came along.. it's a fun question to debate..

@ChuckRosin @SHistorians @SureThingCap The majors become an issue when you go back before Hogan. When comparing across all eras, I generally consider who's greatness changed the sport. I can't put him in league with Tiger and Jack but I'll put him alongside Arnie, Hogan, and Player for sure.

It may be hard to get into Augusta or Cypress Point, but neither of their gates are guarded by M4-toting military police charged with protecting some of the country’s most valuable assets. Joint Base Andrews guards the airspace around Washington, and it is also home to 36 holes of golf. At 5 p.m. each day, the national anthem plays. Every golfer stops where they stand. It’s a favorite amongst presidents, and F-16s conduct touch-and-gos directly behind the 10th tee. A thread on the United States’ military courses:

@therealmcnair Linear, but if the range has targets all over and not in parallel lines, then they should expect concentrated.

Question, any supers or golf turf guys have an opinion on driving range etiquette? We’ve been told Big Lines our entire lives but I’ve heard several that prefer a concentrated divot pattern? Would like to settle this. It goes without saying Big Scatter is an invention of the communists.
