@JamesMarsh79 Have you seen the Ron Baron interview where he talks about Space X? Hard to be bearish when you see that. Of course doesn’t mean you buy at any price.

Ben Griffin says he spent about $50,000 per week last year on travel, housing, coaches, trainers, etc. If you multiply that by the 30 events he played in 2025, that's $1.5 million in expenses against roughly $15 million in on-course earnings. (h/t @GolfDigest)

Home Depot and Lowe’s are sometimes located so close together they could practically (or in this pic, literally) share a parking lot. These stores are massive investments. Why wouldn't they spread out? I do a lot of retail site selection work – so I found this fascinating and wanted to dig in. There are slight differences (HD catering to the pros, etc.), but to the average consumer they’re the same. If Lowe’s opens next to HD (or vice versa), it unquestionably cannibalizes the incumbent store a ton - guessing ~30-50%. At first glance, this seems like a crazy strategy driven by aggressively competitive behavior. But I don’t think that’s the case. Both companies have been wildly successful. It clearly works. Relevant sidebar: Harold Hotelling was an influential economic theorist. In 1929, he developed a Location Model. It can be illustrated with a simple “beach ice cream vendor” example. Core assumption is the product/service are the same. Sorry for the awful graphics. 😂 To start, 2 ice cream vendors are on opposite sides of the beach, equidistant from the middle. Half the beach goers walk to one. Half to the other. Each vendor has equal share. After a while, the vendor on the left, being an enterprising capitalist, realizes they can move closer to the center of the beach and grab more share. Left vendor now has 2/3 share. Vendor on the right realizes what’s going on and also starts moving to the middle. This continues until the vendors are side by side, each back to 50% share. The beach example is overly simplistic of course, but the same dynamic exists with HD and Lowe’s. In Anytown USA, there’s likely a “best” location or small trade area for a big box store. Zoning, land availability, access, traffic, etc. all play a role. If HD already there (or vice versa), Lowe’s is best served to open as close as possible to grab ~50% market share. If Lowe's opened anywhere else, they’d likely be worse off. So having HD and Lowe’s (very) close to each other is a market equilibrium, of sorts. Both can win. Same goes for a CVS next to a Walgreens, etc. I’m just an outsider who finds this stuff interesting so I wanted to share my thoughts. I could be way off. Any insiders please chime in!

Why’d they have to go a ruin a good thing??? While this rebrand looks fine, it removes so much life from the brand!

most of the party girls I know from college are married and pregnant/have their first kid (we're in early 30s). My friends who slept around less/not at all are more likely to be single or in LTRs with unclear futures. I don't think this is causal, more that girls who are a bit boy crazy continue to be enthusiastic about men and sex in a way that facilitates finding a partner and having kids if they want that

I heard doordash was stealing tips from their drivers so out of curiosity, I asked the woman who dropped off my tacos how much it's showing that I tipped her; she said $5. I showed her my phone where I tipped $20 (bc the taco place was busy and she waited for my order). 😐

That’s 10 times the CEO earning a million bringing in 6.5B. Also, 75k is barely enough to get someone with a college degree. I don’t think it’s a specific percentage. It works in layers. If anything, the CEO I mentioned was getting waaay less than most people bringing in a lot less.

@constantnewness in general all restaurants are getting that complaint, they just have all teh resources available and they can't figure out how to combat it. They'll get a new CEO at some point to fix it

@constantnewness they don't do enough to create positivity....their marketing is terrible. So easy to just pile on them.
