@bobchou888 @Ghost_Groyper @camliekr oh this is just a weird worldview you have and not an actual addition to the conversation Okay
English

@contemplans @Ghost_Groyper @camliekr It is relevant, China is a "nation" in its original sense, not a playground for rootless foreigners.
English

@bobchou888 @Ghost_Groyper @camliekr oh i thought u were referring to my username! in this case this, while a cool etymological anecdote, is totally fucking irrelevant to this conversations since words evolve and change meaning over time. as it says on the very website you linked. we Are talking about the modern +

English

@galanon1m wnosze o dodanie webera bo jak jeszcze raz jego nazwisko zobacze to kogos strzele
Polski

@bernielomax @Ghost_Groyper @camliekr true, i did take a shortcut for the sake of simplicity. i meant to highlight that unlike nationality ethnicity isnt formal
English

@contemplans @Ghost_Groyper @camliekr No, ethnicity isn't biological. It can correlate, but it isn't necessary. You can take almost any example and you'd find it is not biological. Almost anyone will be part of a different ethnicity after immersing for a generation or two.
English

@Maplebronut @Ghost_Groyper @camliekr .....first of all, skibidi is a word that has a definition, yes, so i dont see your point, and second of all this is merriam webster
English

@Ghost_Groyper @camliekr i see what youre doing and im not engaging in a trans debate. words have different meanings in different contexts, theres nuance in this world sometimes. crazy shit i know. im dropping this tho its 2am
English

@contemplans @camliekr Nope. You don’t know what words mean. It’s like saying a man can be a woman if they change it on their ID.
English

@Ghost_Groyper @camliekr ethnicity and nationality are used interchangeably in a Specific Context. usually when discussing ethnic minorities/groups in countries. this does not change the fact that a white guy born and raised in china is nationally anc culturally chinese, while remaining white ethnically
English

@Ghost_Groyper @camliekr didnt include it because its not relevant in this context, youre arguing that someones place of birth, upbringing, and citizenship has no effect on someones nationality, which it legally has
English

@Ghost_Groyper @camliekr or are you gonna claim youre smarter than the dictionairy?
English

@Ghost_Groyper @camliekr brother. youre talking straight bullshit now, and im 100% sure you wouldnt distinguish a ukrainian, a pole, a german and a czech from eachother. also, textbook definitions for you

English

@Ghost_Groyper @camliekr actually this makes even less sense, itd more likely be through culture, like clothing and shit
English

@contemplans @camliekr How do First Nations people determine who is and isn’t a part of their tribe?
English

@Ghost_Groyper @camliekr ..... are we in a tribe? also, if a member of the tribe adopted a baby of different ethnicity, that baby would become a part of the tribe. i dont see your point
English

@Ghost_Groyper @camliekr you almost get it, the "visible" part is his ethnicity. hes still white *ethnically*, but his nationality would be chinese. this is like you calling all europeans just "europeans" (and not "french", "germans"), cause were not visibly different from eachother
English

@contemplans @camliekr If that same white guy was born in China, you would never assume his nationality is Chinese because he would be visibly European. The fact that a piece of paper says he’s Chinese doesn’t change the fact that he is clearly not Chinese.
