Every year it becomes extremely evident in the middle of the season the Yankees completely neglected a certain area of their roster. The Yankees believe they can improve any deficiency in July but their lack of aggression in the offseason leads to these swoons. It’s ridiculous.

Austin Wells has been a major bust this season so far & I sadly think the times comes for a 2 day mental break, it’s similar to what Boone did with Anthony Rizzo back in 2024. However, I don’t fully blame Wells, I blame the Yankees for going with 2 LHH catchers, with one who is an AAA player at best in Escarra, that’s just a poor roster position in a whole. While we may need to wait for Ryan Jeffers until July/August, the Yankees need to call up RHH C Ali Sánchez who’s hitting .269 & send Escarra down. I have good belief Wells will turn it around, he’s been in bad slumps before & he’s a good guy & works well with the pitching, but right now… he’s a platoon & 9 hole batter against RHPs primarily until he finally turns it around.
