Stilyan Petrov offered a non playing role at Villa, the same role Lescott had last year. #StilyanPetrov #AVFC

@LewisSteele_ Lowest ebb 😂 We lost to City at the Etihad, did you not see us drop points at home to Spurs who had 60 lads missing from their squad

Just leaving the Etihad. That from #LFC was the lowest ebb of this rotten season and an insult to the 7,600 fans. OK first half an hour but zero fight after 1-0. Buck stops ultimately with Arne Slot and I struggle to see him turning it around. If anything, they’re getting worse.

@davidlynchlfc We've been awful Dave but Chelsea are awful, same with Villa recently. It'll be a hobble over the line but still think we'll do it

There's not much else to say about this Liverpool team other than that they will surely miss out on Champions League qualification from here and fully deserve it. Injuries have played a part, but these players regularly look less fit and less well-organised than the opposition.

Can't believe the amount of people leaving on 88 minutes here. Where are you going? Fair enough if it's an 8pm kick-off and you've got a train to get etc... but what?

I despise Carragher commentating on our games. Everything we do is the worst thing ever and everything the opposition do is amazing.

@TheAnfieldBuzz Imagine Palace let Guehi go and then Igor Julio pulled out. That would've been a complete mess.

Joe Gomez was close to joining Brighton on deadline day. There was a strong possibility of this move happening, but the deal collapsed as there were some complications regarding the coverage of the salary. [@FabrizioRomano]

Thierry Henry just called Arne Slot “boss” on Sky. Well tbf they need attacking depth and I’m not sure many would say no

Henry Winter singlehandedly always makes me miss the 140 character limit on twitter
Henry Winter@henrywinter

However the Alexander Isak saga eventually concludes, let’s hope that at some point the player has the good grace to acknowledge the debt he owes Eddie Howe for helping his development into one of the best players in the world and also apologises for causing such chaos. It’s one thing a player wanting to leave – ambition, short career, levels, finance whatever – but it’s the aggressive way that Isak tries to force his way out - midway through a six-year contract - that also causes such anger on Tyneside. In the middle of this maelstrom, Howe shows commendable calm and patience. Newcastle’s head coach is being strong, demanding standards of behaviour, yet diplomatically leaving the dressing-room door open in case Liverpool don’t make an acceptable offer (£130m+) and Isak does stay. Howe deserves huge respect for the dignified, intelligent way he’s handling a damaging distraction. He's trying to prepare his team for what should be an exciting season not knowing who will form his attack, and currently fielding a wide player in Anthony Gordon centrally. He’s dealing with a troublesome transfer window without a sporting director or chief executive. He’s going into press conferences knowing they will be dominated by questions about a striking striker. In the modern media, and social media, age, Howe has to choose every word carefully, knowing they will be scrutinised forensically and emotionally. He has to pick the right words to send the right message to Isak, to the other players, to potential signings, and to the Newcastle faithful outraged by Isak’s behaviour. Newcastle’s board are fortunate they have such an impressive figure fronting up for them and the club. Howe also deserves more respect and gratitude from Isak. Since joining in 2022, Isak’s improvement from a very good £63m 22-year-old into an elite performer worth £130m+ is obviously largely down to his own ability and inner drive but Howe deserves huge credit. He makes good players even better. His coaching, man-management and building a system to bring the best out of Isak helped turn the Swede into a player coveted by Liverpool. Let’s hope Isak respects that one day. #NUFC

@Fubble365 @IverHanrahanGP Frimpong is there in an emergency. Gakpo, Salah, Chiesa, Frimpong with Rio potentially is fine. Especially when Ekitike / Wirtz / Isak can go wide if need be

No way we offload Doak, Elliot & Chiesa without bringing another wide attacking option in surely, regardless of Isak saga? Ekitike can play off the left but think we need option of a natural wide player with ability to take on the fullback & carry the ball forward like Diaz did.
