Harvesting our own natural resources is the literal definition of energy independence, i.e. because we wouldn't be depending on foreign imports. It would absolutely insulate us from a price shock if two conditions are met: 1) The resources are harvested by assets owned by the electorate (as a whole, Q.E.D. the tax payer), and distributed directly to them. 2) We have an honest government We are currently falling at hurdle two, and here Zack is inadvertently admitting he'd carry on the status quo of dishonesty. Energy independence is possible, it's just nobody in parliament seems to have the balls to stand up and take back what's ours and tell their greedy little pay masters enough is enough.

Drilling for more oil & gas in the North Sea won't lower bills, it won't make us more energy independent and it won't insulate us from price shocks. A Labour backslide on this would be a huge betrayal. Double down on renewables. Insulate every home. Lower bills, permanently.

Rory Stewart is definitely the stupid person's idea of a smart person. This is an incredibly, embarrassingly stupid post. Christianity stems from the teachings of Christ. It's New Testament. To cherry pick parts of the Old Testament out and try to leverage them as representative of Christianity is absurd as this part of scripture is taking place long before Christ blessed us with his teaching. It's very obvious to me that Rory has not taken time to actually read and understand the Bible and is, in fact, a bad faith actor.
