It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of 15-year-old Academy player, Amelia Aplin. Amelia collapsed during a Girls’ Academy game against Fulham at the Club’s Training Centre in Horspath yesterday afternoon. The thoughts and sincere condolences from everyone at Oxford United are with Amelia’s family, friends, teammates and coaches. We would like to place on record our appreciation for the efforts of the medical staff at both Oxford United and Fulham Football Club, along with the emergency services. The Club will offer support to Amelia’s family, players, coaches and staff impacted by this tragic event. We would ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time.

Statement from FC Hartlepool - ❤️💙 Alex Bell - Club Statement 💙❤️ It is with deep sadness that we share the awful news that Alex Bell one of our U12 Whites players died peacefully at home on 8th Feb 2026 following the reoccurrence of a brain tumour Alex was a much loved member of the U12 Whites and a talented number 9 scoring 36 goals in his first season for the team. Alex was a key member of the squad who helped the Whites to the league title in their first season and was a committed footballer who trained very hard, always had a smile on his face and thoroughly enjoyed representing Fc. As well as his love for playing Alex was also a huge Newcastle fan and got the chance to walk out onto the St James park pitch recently with one of his favourite players Alexander Isak Our heartfelt condolences go out to Alex’s family and all those close to him during this incredibly difficult time. As a mark of respect and to honour Alex’s memory the club will be holding a minutes applause at all our games this weekend We are also supporting Childrens Cancer North who do incredible work helping children and families following a cancer diagnosis. 💔 RIP Ste, On Christmas Eve, U9s grassroots manager Ste Jones, his partner Ashley, and their 8-year-old son Charlie were involved in a horrific car accident after being hit by a drunk driver while driving home from watching a Christmas film. Our hearts are broken as we share devastating news from our grassroots football community. Charlie was incredibly lucky and escaped without serious injury. Ashley suffered serious, life-changing injuries, has undergone major surgery, and faces a long road to recovery. Ste was placed into a coma and, heartbreakingly, has since passed away. Ste was more than a coach — he was one of the good ones. A devoted dad, partner, and passionate grassroots football manager who always put kids first. He was a huge advocate for inclusion, helping autistic and disabled children feel they belonged in football. He was recognised for this incredible work with an award this summer. Charlie is autistic, and Ste was his biggest supporter and hero. The loss this family is facing is unimaginable. 👉 The GoFundMe link is in the comments 👈
