King Charles’s lawyers denied my request for the King to meet with Epstein survivors next week. The British Monarchy can be seen as a relic of colonialism & imperialism, or it can be a modern force for standing up for women's rights & human rights. I hope he will reconsider.

People have no idea how fragile the job ecosystem in Seattle is. It used to be that you could spend your career hopping around a few companies and do very well. Big tech isn’t hiring. Nordstrom isn’t a booming business, Sur La Table isn’t hiring people, Costco isn’t the same it was. Our startup funding is the lowest it has ever been. I fear those days are over. It’s going to be a tough decade for Seattle. Imagine a governor that built homes and a Mayor that welcomed jobs to our city instead of one that chased them out. You can’t close income gaps without income. And who’s left to foot the bill? Anyone who comments on this that they don’t like the flavor of the coffee is missing the point. Say that to someone who lost their job. Time to organize and vote for public safety and a business friendly environment. seattletimes.com/business/starb…

Tiffany Stratton comments on Brock Lesnar’s apparent retirement, hopes he gets to to officially retire at SummerSlam in Minnesota: “When I saw Brock unlace his boots, I almost shedded a tear. I was sad for him. He looked like he started crying a little bit, too. He’s just a boy. It’s his first time living, too, so hopefully it’s not his last match. Hopefully in SummerSlam in Minnesota, we’ll get to see him. I think that would be iconic, retiring in your hometown. I’m really sad, but happy for him.” (@AdrianRadio93)

Xbox is reportedly testing a new feature that allows players to build their own Game Pass subscriptions. This would enable users to choose the specific features they want and remove the ones they do not use This could potentially lowering monthly costs and providing greater flexibility for gamers.

@cope59617 Elizabeth can speak for herself. The broader point is that the problems facing universities are structural - governance, ownership, funding, incentives - as well as ideological (or legal or political). Here's an example. mises.org/mises-daily/wh…

One thing you can say about movement activists, they excel at building coalitions, engaging their natural allies, analyzing alternative approaches, and developing long-term, multidimensional strategies for bringing about lasting social change.

“I’m so busy writing papers nobody reads. The faculty is left-of-center. One lady tried writing a polite letter. I have no responsibility for leaving the institution better off than when I arrived. Best I can do is make excuses and cry about it after the fact. Waaaaaah!”

@Cernovich People are suddenly furious about Washington’s “Millionaire Tax” and Starbucks leaving, like this came out of nowhere. This is exactly what was campaigned on and voted for. You don’t get to act shocked when you don’t vote or when policies you support show up and companies react.

All I ever wanted was for Big Tech to stop censoring me and for banks to not debank. The New York Times and millions of leftists want to kill every billionaire. Can’t say I’m sad at all. This is what Silicon Valley and Wall Street funded.

@McGillPatterson @gmanndo Elizabeth Corey claims there’s a “middle position” on confronting DEI. That’s hard to take seriously if the goal is preserving the core purpose of higher education. Do you agree, and if so, what exactly is this “middle position”?

@citrinowicz This administration acts like Iran is a normal actor. It’s not. It’s an ideological religious regime playing a long game with a totally different view of time and priorities. Unreal the Trump admin ignores this. Who’s running this clown show?

The current situation is inherently unstable. If the U.S. does not apply sufficient pressure on Iran, there is a real risk that President Trump will eventually lose patience and be forced to either escalate militarily or disengage from the confrontation altogether. On the other hand, if a maritime blockade becomes even partially effective, Iran is likely to respond by increasing economic pressure on the global system. Over time, this could translate into direct or indirect action against international shipping and maritime presence in the Gulf. Iran has historically demonstrated a high tolerance for economic pressure, and there is little indication that it would capitulate under such conditions. In fact, the greater the economic strain, the stronger the incentive for Iran to break out of the current “no war, no peace” equilibrium, potentially through more aggressive maritime disruption. Absent a diplomatic agreement, renewed military escalation becomes a matter of timing rather than possibility. Ultimately, one side will have to make concessions in negotiations. At present, however, there are no clear signs that Tehran is seriously considering such a move. #IranWar

🙄Between the lines: The extension contradicts Trump's own statement Tuesday morning that he didn't want to extend the ceasefire ⌛️While the move signals he is not ready to resume the war, it risks undercutting his leverage — both the pressure of a ticking deadline and the credibility of his military threat

Question: Does Iran still buy the president's threats? @citrinowicz: “Unfortunately, no…it doesn't matter what the president will say or the vice president or secretary of war will say. It has zero influence on the Iranian calculus. From the Iranians’ standpoint, they have the upper hand. And if the U.S. wants to escalate, it will escalate. And if they want to reach an agreement, they have to accept the ten points that they sent them through the Pakistanis…The US is trying now to negotiate with the same regime we tried to topple, and now it's very hard to reach an agreement.”
