So far this year we've had 40+ COVID patients require ECMO/lung bypass at @GSTT_ICU. These are the sickest patients across ICUs in the UK with an average age of 46. So far we've not had a single double vaccinated patient on ECMO. Vaccinations matter even if you're young/healthy

Very disappointed to finish a night shift on ITU to hear that my local MS @DavidRowlandsMS is claiming during senedd debates that COVID is "no more dangerous" than other respiratory tract infections, such as the flu” and that “there is no real pandemic”

The Critical Care Unit at GUH is well and truly open after our mammoth day of moves! Thanks to everyone in @AneurinBevanUHB and @WelshAmbulance for all their help today. It was an incredible effort by so many and it all paid off. Awesome work team 👊 #thebigmove

Standard early morning anxiety wake up as an @AneurinBevanUHB clinician as today is move day! Coordinating the move of up to 15 ITU patients across 3 hospitals in the middle of a pandemic requires military precision and a bucketload of elbow grease by the ITU staff #wecandothis
