@connorpaton Not true. In NYC we hold it longer because there’s a big risk that if the door hits the person behind us we’ll get stabbed. In SF the person hit would probably apologize for walking into the door.

you can rank any city by how long people hold the door open for the person behind them nyc is half a second. sf is three full seconds with eye contact

Ongoing peculiar UWS situation where a man wearing an orange safety vest has been pretending to be a traffic cop for the last week along W. 72nd Street. He rearranges cones constantly in places that almost make sense and jumps into traffic to direct cars, who then listen to him.

@josephflaherty I can afford whatever lunch I want, but my typical is 4 medium boiled eggs over rice that I make in the office. I think it’s $3 at most. When I was broke in NYC in my twenties it was homemade burritos for roughly the same. 🤷🏽

2X a week I buy lunch at a fauxdega in Harvard Sq. I fill a box with some salmon, roast veggies, and rice from a hot bar. It costs between $8-9 dollars. Occasionally, I go to Felipe's and get a $9 burrito. Even in a HCOL city, you can find thrifty lunch options.
