🚨 As the game has evolved, the most important tactical thing a defense can do is STAY OUT OF ROTATION 🚨 The optimal coverage is NOT HAVING TO USE YOUR COVERAGE. This is because 3PT shooting and OBoard % against, drastically increase when the dominoes fall and your D is in rotation. These 2 metrics tip the scales immensely in terms of winning and losing. CLOSEOUTS are the foundation to staying in rotation (along POA D, and not overhelping). A constested shot at the rim will yield less PPP than an open catch and shoot 3 will, at virtually every level. Subjectively, the BEST methodology to teach closeouts is from @BBallImmersion . He teaches the RUN-STOP method. It's simple, it's game-like and most importantly it gets to the shooter QUICKLY, while simultaneously decreasing the odds of being put in rotation.
