Eight children, one husband, hundreds of acres beneath the enormous skies of the American west – and millions of social media followers. I spent the day with "trad wife" Hannah Neeleman, or Ballerina Farm, to figure out what all the fuss was about thetimes.com/magazines/the-…

Fascinating

In 2010, a nineteen year old Australian man named Sam Ballard spent an evening drinking with his friends in the back garden, when a slug came to their attention. Being young and dumb and a bit inebriated, one of them suggested, as a dare, that Sam swallow the slug, which he did. Some time later Sam started to complain of aches and pains and informed his parents of his foolhardy act, which they dismissed as irrelevant. The sad truth is that the slug was carrying Rat Lungworm disease, a parasite called Angiostronjilus. Deposited in the faeces of an infected rat the slug picked it up and finally passed to the unfortunate man. The parasite worked its way through its host’s system, finding its way to the brain and causing an inflammation that induced a coma lasting over 400 days. On waking, he was completely paralyzed and was reliant on round-the-clock care in order to function. He finally succumbed to his condition and passed away in 2018.

How did the coyote cross the road? If the coyote is among the 4,000 or so living in the Chicago metro area, the answer may be that it used a bridge to avoid being hit by a car: bit.ly/442PxbC 📷 @coreyfishes, @bigpicturecomp Grand Prize Winner

Congratulations to 2023 @bigpicturecomp grand prize winner @coreyfishes, whose photo story captures some of the ways wild animals have adapted to urban environments. Here, a coyote navigates Chicago’s train tracks to avoid busy highways. Full gallery: bit.ly/442PxbC

I just completed one of the largest paintings in the world's largest mural district here in Wynwood. It took myself and two other painters roughly two weeks, and almost 70 gallons of paint to complete the project. I am very proud of the results.
