Oh, you converted to Catholicism? That's cool! So now you're into uplifting the poor and protecting the defenseless, right? You're not just spending all your time trying to get rich and talking about how we need to execute more people in this country...right?

@AlexiLalas @EdwardODay @nypost “I loathe Eurosnob soccer fans because they think they’re superior to American soccer fans.” - Lalas “I’m gonna ignore all other good faith engagement and instead troll a poor sap who had the bad luck to include a typo in his reply to me” - also Lalas lol don’t ever change. 🤞🏻

This discourse about how USMNT 🇺🇸 can break thru their World Cup ceiling is going sideways. Down to brass tacks, ceiling will remain if ⚽️ is the 4th most popular sport here. If talented kids are not born with the passion for the sport, we are not catching top teams...

Sure they have. The Netherlands rd16 loss is still cited when talking about Gregg Berhalter. But he was offered an extension. While I’m against multiple cycles, I didn’t think GB deserved to lose that opportunity because of the post-WC ridiculousness. Same would apply to Poch.
Yanks FC@USMNTPirate

@AlexiLalas None of the media let the Netherlands game define Gregg, now Poch gets all the blame. It’s clear you just want another one of the “boys” to coach the team. Where was this accountability 4 years ago? 3 years ago when Gregg was rehired?

@AlexiLalas Yeah, not only that, but just imagine if they then would have beaten Spain. Then imagine if they went on to win the whole tournament. That would have been wonderful! And everyone would love Poch!

You’re right, teams can have a bad day. But that bad day can come to define a coach. Such is the nature of a World Cup. Very fine margins. Coaches know it and accept it. Think of how different the discourse would be if USMNT had beaten Belgium and played Spain yesterday.
Brian Fowler@bkfhorns

@AlexiLalas My pushback would be with any sport, sometimes the players can lay an egg. Someone has to decide if they think Poch can get the team to the next level, if they believe that then they should keep him. There are often failures before triumphs. He did have a short cycle.

@sgevans This tweet is vague. Competing in what measurement? “Leading the way” in what way exactly? Participation? Audience? Financial success of the top pro league? Winning the top international tournament?

If you look at countries where soccer is not the number one sport and the game has to compete with other, more established, sports - the USA is actually leading the way in that cohort.

@AlexiLalas You said you love how your buddy DJT called up your other buddy Gianni to overrule Balo’s suspension. What if DJT gave Gianni a big bag of cash in exchange for that favor. Would you still love that?
