The IUCN Species Survival Commission joins UNEP's plea for the release of Ms Bayani. Given recent pardons issued by Iranian authorities, we urge clemency and her safe return home, as well as @IUCNssc members and fellow conservationists imprisoned in Iran.

The Asiatic Cheetah is a Critically Endangered subspecies of Cheetah, with fewer than 20 individuals still existing in the wild in Iran.
The Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) therefore pays high attention to this charismatic mammal.

Mahmoud Shahriyari, a former state TV presenter, has been reportedly arrested. They also sought to arrest Mehran Modiri, but he’s left Iran.
