Deeply relieved that my colleague and friend @DrTedros is now safe and sound and back with his family in Geneva. I wish our injured @WFP_UNHAS colleague & n crew member speedy recovery. Civilians, humanitarians, @UN workers must never be a target.

Thank you to all my friends, colleagues, and everyone who has wished me well during the ordeal in the past few days. I'm especially grateful to the colleagues and airport staff, who were selfless as they tried to protect me. We faced a very dangerous attack, but my @UN colleagues and I are now safe. We successfully evacuated our wounded colleague to Amman, and he is stable. My heart goes out to our colleagues on the front lines and the civilians who face such danger every day. I am on my way back home to Geneva.

As we close this historic 16th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the @UNCCD, I am filled with immense gratitude. Together, we’ve set a new standard for ambition and collaboration. From the arid landscapes of my childhood to this moment, my journey has been guided by one conviction: land restoration is key to our collective future. The resilience I witnessed growing up fuels my hope for what we can achieve together. #COP16Riyadh has been the largest, most inclusive, and most complex conference in the 30-year history of @UNCCD.
