@bsdhanoa Don’t fully agree. Plenty of 3-star officers have commanded massive formations and carried immense operational responsibility. Reaching 4-star is often as much about timing and limited vacancies as capability. Many worthy officers never get that final appointment.

Picking three star retirees as CDS (twice in a row) diminishes the real worth of the office & in a way lowers the dignity & prestige of the office of the three service chiefs as well. When you’ve never been at the helm of an entire service, you are a bit hemmed in to steer all 3.

After successfully denying Indian objectives on the night of May 7, Pakistan's leadership faced a tough choice: settle for modest punishment inflicted on the Indian Air Force or implement its policy of Quid Pro Quo Plus to comprehensively dominate both defensive and offensive maneuvers. Given the nuclearized environment and the shame inflicted on the IAF, the risk of dangerous escalation was real. Both friends and foes urged Pakistan to deescalate. To restore deterrence, Pakistan exercised restraint in weaponry. Despite India deploying the dual use BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, Pakistan did not use it's dual use missile inventory rather it relied on the lowest rung of its conventional weapons, Fatah I and Fatah II. However, it decided not to remain proportional. Pakistan initiated a Quid Pro Quo Plus (QPQP), striking 26 Indian sites including air bases, S-400 bases at Adampur and Bhuj, and command centers across northern India. The intensity of Pakistan's response foiled India's escalate to deescalate approach, compelling New Delhi to step back and ask Washington to arrange a ceasefire. The ceasefire restored stability and proved the credibility of Pakistan's conventional deterrence. This faith in conventional strength, the ability to withstand pressure, and decisive action to defend sovereignty and honor earned Pakistan great laurels. It led to a security pact with Saudi Arabia, positioned Pakistan as a major defense industrial power, and established it as a net stability provider in the region.

Finally, Pakistan has got a Brahmos equivalent. Fatah-3, like Brahmos, will be near impossible to intercept. All our army and air force bases and other key installations in J&K, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat will be extremely vulnerable as air defences will have very little or no time to detect, track and engage this supersonic missile travelling at Mach 3. Pakistan unveiled it on the first anniversary of Op Sindoor, sending out a clear message that it is also ready to play the supersonic cruise missile game. @adgpi @IAF_MCC
Clash Report@clashreport

Pakistan publicly unveiled the new Fatah-3 supersonic cruise missile today. It's been identified as a localized derivative of China's HD-1 missile by Guangdong Hongda. The road-mobile, twin-canister TEL system reportedly hits Mach 3–4 with a 290–450 km range and a 240–400 kg warhead, designed for precision land-attack and anti-ship strikes via sea-skimming profiles. It expands Pakistan's Fatah family into the supersonic cruise niche and is widely seen as a direct regional counter to India's BrahMos.

It was perhaps for the best that Babar and Mendis fell cheaply yesterday. It gave Zalmi a chance to show how complete a team they've been, a chance that Hardie and Samad took superbly. An all time great T20 league campaign. espncricinfo.com/story/psl-2026…

Stars must sign Rauf on a multi-year deal now that previous contracting cycle is over. His attributes suit those conditions perfectly & his BBL record makes it a no-brainer. 56 wkts in 33 games at ER < 8. Among the best OS imports the league has seen.

@cosmosyatri @t20tracker I still say that he should be part of the ODIs where his economy is not a major problem as he possesses that wicket taking capability and we have seen it numerous times in the past especially since the next ODI Wc is in South Africa and we know how effective he has been there 🤝

Hunain broke the status quo of T20 cricket. Defending 6 in the final over, he proved it’s not just a batter’s game anymore. The narrative changed last night. We have a precedence now. Benchmark is higher than ever. Zaman and now Hunain. Pak bowling future is bright.

@gurkiratsgill Pitches and the Impact Player rule have definitely contributed, but the biggest factor is batters massively upskilling their game. The intent, power and range of strokes have gone to another level. Tougher pitches may reduce scores a bit, but this tempo is here to stay.

The Jamieson send off yesterday is such a non issue where people are losing their minds unnecessarily. What should be the number point of discussion in the Indian cricket ecosystem is the homogeneity of the pitches across the venues in IPL. Scores of 220 are being chase with more than an over to spare. It is impossible to defend a score of 180 anymore, let alone 160. At present the IPL has become an elongated version of Hong Sixes because of the pitches and the IP rule. The competition has become so extreme that a pitch like Sharjah 2021 will be a welcome move.

Let’s imagine Pakistan can land the plane here and achieve some sort of durable, albeit imperfect, peace between the US and Iran. It would be odd if Trump didn’t try to reward Pakistan materially in some way—something more tangible than White House meetings—right?

Not only is Pakistan likely to see lower growth than almost all its democratic neighbours in the coming years, but it starts from a distinctly lower per capita base. Its GDP per capita remains roughly half that of India or Bangladesh. According to the latest UNDP Human Development Report, India and Bangladesh sit in the “medium human development” category (both ranked around 130th), while Pakistan languishes in the “low” category at 168th, with an HDI value of just 0.544. This is not merely a matter of income; it reflects deeper shortfalls in health, education, and overall human capacity. For much of its history, Pakistan has enjoyed the supposed advantage of technocratic clarity and unity of command: long periods expert-led governance unburdened by the messy compromises of democracy. Yet it continues to fall behind not only in headline GDP figures but in the underlying foundations of long-term prosperity: institutions, human capital, and productive capacity. The recurring pattern raises an uncomfortable question: why has this top down clarity so often failed to translate into sustained convergence with its democratic neighbours?

IMF forecasts Pakistan to grow slower than Bangladesh and India in 2026 and 2027 (consistent with 2025 underperformance). Keep in mind that Pakistan has higher population growth than Bangladesh and India, so per capita growth is also less.
