As voters begin to tune in, the contrast in this race is becoming clearer by the day. This week, it was announced that I will face my opponent in the first major debate on April 1st, hosted by the New Jersey Globe and Rider University, an important opportunity to lay out our vision for commonsense leadership and speak directly to voters. Unfortunately, voters were denied another opportunity for open dialogue when my opponent declined to participate in a League of Women Voters debate. Her decision drew criticism from members of her own party and raised serious questions about her willingness to engage transparently. While she offered shifting explanations, the League made clear that the attempts were made to influence the integrity of the event. At a time when NJ-11 voters deserve honest answers, I remain committed to showing up, answering tough questions, and earning voters’ trust. In fact, I have agreed to five separate debates, including forums with Montclair High School, ONNJ, and NJ Spotlight News–yet those opportunities have repeatedly been turned down. Despite rhetoric about being “unafraid,” only one candidate in this race is consistently willing to face voters head-on. The contrast could not be clearer. While my opponent leans into national progressive priorities, we are focused on the everyday concerns of NJ-11 families: affordability, safe communities, and strong alliances abroad. That message is resonating. As the New York Post recently noted, our campaign offers “A commonsense alternative focused on affordability, public safety, and responsible governance.” That difference is also being recognized across party lines. In recent weeks, we’ve earned the endorsement of respected local Democrat leaders including Denny Klein, Steve Rovell, and Michael Goldberg. These are pragmatic voices who see what’s at stake and understand that this race is about leadership, not ideology. At the same time, my opponent has begun repositioning herself, walking back key policies and attempting to rebrand her image, but voters are paying attention. Across the district, from South Orange and Maplewood and beyond, we are hearing directly from lifelong Democrats who feel her far-left positions do not reflect their values or the needs of this district. On the ground, our campaign continues to grow stronger everyday, with packed events, increasing volunteer energy, and expanding support from across NJ-11. With early voting beginning April 6th, this race will come down to execution in these final weeks. We need continued financial support to stay competitive on the airwaves, volunteers for door knocking and voter outreach, and your help sharing our message with friends and neighbors.
