I saved my assistant team leaders life by giving him first aid while directing the rest of the squad into positions to cover in case of ambush. This happened after I was knocked out for a few seconds after being hit by the same IED. Because I was an E4, they offered me the same award the platoon leader (O1) got for end of tour award. I declined and asked for an ARCOM w/ Valor because it looked better on the ribbon stack. Bronze Star meant something before OIF/OEF, now it is a watered down pile of trash.

@BFClarity It's true. I know a lady who was a Military Cook in the Reserves, never deployed. Now wears "COMBAT VETERAN" hat, same as the Vietnam vets. Someone needs to put the POGs back in their place. We've let it get out of hand.

Vets used to say I was in Iraq or I was in Afghanistan. Now everyone wants to say "I was in combat" stop the misrepresentation. If they shot at you and you shot back OK cool. Most of y'all know nothing about real combat. Are the MMA/boxing coaches also fighting too? 😒🤮🪖

Degenerative disc disease and arthritis are not common among those in their late 20s/early 30s. Unless they are in the military. Neither of those things gets better over time. I was 38 when I got shoulder surgery. Told I had the joints of a 65 year old.
