What are your favorite examples of what I call ritual instruments — single purpose objects where the design and execution is simply uncompromising?
Like the TP-7 recorder from Teenage Engineering, The Toaster from Balmuda, or !Boring apps from @asallen.

@vanschneider @gentlycarved Whats the most intuitive ui examples you’ve found that accommodates complex use cases? I keep coming back to node based when complexity increases
English

@gentlycarved They're not supposed to be intuitive. They're an engineers idea of intuitive.
English

@i2cjak Why do you think you need plasticity? Are you already proficient with any other CAD program?
Otherwise don't think plasticity will serve you. It is not parametric, it is great for eye candy, not so great for physical stuff.
English

@EinarJohnson_XR @iMonkPro What apps does it work great with? I got it when it first came out and I was not able to do anything with it. I love the idea, is it better now?
English

@iMonkPro It’s pretty great. They have a small app on the App Store that might help a little of you have issues with it.
English

@1ktinos @Cernovich Our first prototype looked way worse than that. That’s why no one should fear sharing their ideas early on, most people are blind anyways.

Amazing sounding product. But fucking horrible marketing. That image has steam clouds, bad lighting, cheap countertops, ominous marketing tone implications, and terrible colors and saturation, let alone the overall feel that makes me think “shit this is going to melt plastic” from the lizard brain. Which is what you are marketing against. Competitor websites and messaging feel clean, unobtrusive, forgotten, effortless, and efficient. Your website is also terrible. Please let me or someone with aesthetic taste, but less engineering expertise, help! Don’t fuck this up being an engineering autist, there are autists out there in other realms…
English

@ugmonk I love the rorra! Taste and workflow is great. My only complaint is that the water volume is not large enough and water runs out mid-fill often. Getting a second one might be the move.
English

Anyone have one of these water filtration systems
Design looks great, but curious how well it works.

@blhack Wasn't familiar with this thing, very interesting

I start looking forward to coffee the night before.
Have we maxed out coffee, or are we just stuck in a local optimum? With a few hundred million and a clean sheet on extraction physics, I bet someone could do better. Surely there is a bored SpaceX propulsion alum waiting to get nerd sniped out there.

Since 2023 I've been helping @cpendas with @meticulous_home . It’s the world’s first robotic espresso machine. And people love it! We touched on so many things, from the dial interface and the companion app to marketing material and merch. Definitely my favorite type of project.

@nikitabier Similar to why we love salt so much. We are calibrated for a world where salt was scarce so we love it disproportionally. The visual system is calibrated to detect subtle changes in faces, contrast and motion but can be similarly overstimulated. Visual potato chips.

Part of his skill is sneaking out of situations. When Joe wants to test the coin he insists - this doesn't count this doesn't count...
When Joe says another person first other than Ali, he digs deep and gets him on the second try. He has a dozen go-to scripts for when things go slightly wrong but are still salvageable. Imagine he guesses 2 out of 3 and he says... well this is how you know this is real skill and not planted, if I got everything right it would seem weird.
English

@cpendas @AmiriKing The thing is he has to be 100% right on him insisting on a 3rd flip. Even being 80% confident isn’t good enough when it comes to a 20% chance he is wrong
English

@tsullivan05 @AmiriKing Oz went to the bathroom earlier (after Joe revealed his answer out loud) He wrote the note off camera and sneaked it in when he helped open the package. When he lays the envelope back on the table he does a clear sealing motion, like closing a ziplock bag.
English

@cpendas @AmiriKing Okay then how did he know that he would go through 14 fighters?
English

@cpendas @AmiriKing you done??
you want one more??
Nice priming
English

@gmiller @Cernovich Have you ever explained how we would get to universal hold back?
What's the difference between a world in which there are dozens of competing superintelligences and a world where there is just one?
English

@Cernovich If you're not a 'doomer', you're not paying attention.
It's impossible to control or align Artificial Superintelligence systems.
If we build them, all our kids die, and humanity ends.
The freight train runs over everything we've ever known & loved.
So let's not do that.
English

@Austen 5 years ago, I would not have guessed what AI would become superhuman at if my life depended on it. But now that we are here, it’s pretty clear that AI will not be getting good at what I do anytime soon.
