@cpfb15 @BillSimmons @HousefromDC Because on the open market right now he would not get 5/150-180. He takes less in year one but gets more over the life of a new deal than he would've in total if he opted in. I'm just guessing based on how these types of situations have played out historically.

@McMattyIce85 @BillSimmons @HousefromDC His current contract is 5/215. He was set to make 49 next year. 5/150-180 would put him down to 30-36/yr. How is that not a pay cut. Also the Cavs are “”contenders”” and Harden is old, washed, and ring chasing. Makes sense he’d take a discount.

@BillSimmons @HousefromDC My guess is they already have a deal worked out. Decline 1/$49 for a new 5/$150-180 instead. Carves out cap space for the team and gets him more guaranteed money long term.

@piperocktheory @scarficus Agree to disagree. SF -> Exile -> GHS are my top 3. IMO, Exile is peak, GHS is the beginning of the decline, maybe IORR, but they don’t start turning “bad” until post Mick Taylor. Some Girls is definitely their dying breath, but what a breath. Hot take: BB is overrated.

@cpfb15 @scarficus Sticky Fingers is great but they were coming off the highs of Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed Exile on Main Street is incredibly overrated and the beginning of their decline Some Girls is like their last hurrah of creativity before they settled into the formula

imagine there was a 5th Beatle who couldn’t play an instrument, had a worse voice than the others, didn’t write any of the music, tried to dissuade the band from making Revolver, purposefully sabotaged Sgt. Pepper from ever being finished, was a rapist, and they couldn’t fire him

@scarficus no because Brian Jones made significant contributions to his band and they got progressively worse immediately after they kicked him out (and possibly killed him for royalties)

All things considered, I think that 2nd quarter was the best (and certainly the most memorable) quarter of SGA’s entire career. That was brilliance on par with his 2 MVPs. On the flip side, Wemby seems exhausted (again). I’d be very nervous if I were the Spurs.

@OKCsburnerr @SkyedOKC Normally I’d agree, but against the Spurs specifically, there’s not really any guards that need the special defensive attention he brings, but they do have a lot of great guard defenders, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to offset that with more guard scoring.

@SkyedOKC I understand the want for his offensive ability, and he ain’t a bad defender either, but Lu’s poa defensive ability is crucial to our success.. yall just have to realize this by now

@BobFresh_ @oughtabefired @KyleNeubeck Okay. What does that have to do with what I said. The point was about Jokic leap frogging other all time greats with fewer accolades and accomplishments

@oughtabefired @KyleNeubeck Zach Lowe, the most respected journalist and thought leader in NBA media, said like two weeks ago that Jokic was on par with Bird and Magic, who are generally considered top 5. This would leapfrog Jokic over guys like Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Hakeem, arguably Wilt and Russell.

@MrNostalgiaYT @ThunderChats He will get the chance to prove himself in the first round. If he’s serviceable on the defensive end he will play. He could very easily have a game or two where he goes 4/6 from 3 and keeps the offense from getting stuck in the mud

@BuelJacey @KlutzGPT Let’s talk teammates: without Shaq, Kobe retires with 2 rings, MAYBE. That 04 squad was a super team with 4 HOFers, favored to win it all, and Kobe bricked them to an embarrassing L. Let’s talk finals meltdowns: which is worse — 18/7/7 on 48% shooting, or 22/3/4 on 38% shooting?

@cpfb15 @KlutzGPT Again it ALL matters That’s why it’s a close call btw LeBron Kobe If just winning, reputation, Kobe wins easily And LeBron needed Wade and bosh - 2 HALL of Famers to win 2 of his titles He also lost twice with them - the 2011 finals was the worst finals by a star in history

@BuelJacey @KlutzGPT So stats dont matter, head to heads don’t matter, even chips don’t really matter. Like you said, we don’t compare bus drivers and bus riders. It’s about being the best player on a championship winning team. Right? Luckily, we have a way to measure that: Finals MVPs. Who has more?

@cpfb15 @KlutzGPT It all matters And so does context We of course don’t compare bench players vs stars Which is why Pat Bev is an idiot But when you’re comparable - like LeBron and Kobe - every issue matters Stats, titles, winning, etc But no - head to head the season games obviously don’t

@BuelJacey @KlutzGPT Okay, so stats don’t matter, and head to head matchups don’t matter. Only championships. So I guess this means Robert Horry is better than Kobe, Lebron, AND MJ? And the top 8 players of all time played for the Celtics in the 50s/60s? An interesting ranking you got going here.

@cpfb15 @KlutzGPT No winning TITLES Not ridiculous head to head Pat Beverley recently “roasted” d Wade on “his” head to head record LeBron and Kobe are both great and they’re close in value Kobe has a stronger reputation among nba players They know more than we do

@KlutzGPT It’s clearly Bron, but how many of these matchups happened post-Achilles tear for Kobe? I’d imagine the stats look a bit different if you were to factor those games out.

@KlutzGPT Your point is that fantasy stats are more important than winning, etc. LeBron has amazing stats and great longevity - but most of the stats vs Kobe are close Kobe 6 more all defensive teams and an extra title Kobe’s reputation is also stronger among nba peers
