This is great and they do deserve that. And, with some of the savings, we can zero out taxes on the bottom half of earners. The best way to put money in people's pockets is not to take it out in the first place.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

This morning we are introducing COGE — the Commission on Government Efficiency.

This Commission will find ways for our city to work smarter, faster, and more effectively for working people.

New Yorkers deserve a city government as careful with their money as they are.

@JeffBezos should make a bet that if the government can actually execute fast enough, he will donate billions directly to the federal government to increase teacher salaries. The entire argument is that the government cannot execute properly anymore so that even with one year, there is no way teachers would actually see a pay increase paid with the money he donated.

@dylaaanking @midgradeB The ending can stay the exact same but before he dies they could have done something actually interesting with his build up and they didn’t.

@midgradeB Yes but you can like a character, but for moral reasons and story reasons you should still want them to die in the awful way they deserve in the end

Why cant some people understand that we like homelander because he is hilarious and entertaining to watch and not because we agree with his ideology? It's a fictional character!! Even the writer doesn't seem to understand this

@bobsagat2015 @TheSeriesFeed I know, thats why they tried the "take away his powers" trope and didnt let it succeed, so we can get past that possibility and explore another interesting narrative direction.

I believed the issue with Homelander nerfing was that the writers shot themselves in the foot by giving Homelander total invincibility early on, making a satisfying defeat mathematically impossible. In Season 1, his powers had logical, grounded limits. He explicitly couldn't save the crashing plane because he had no physical leverage to lift it while flying. He was the strongest Supe alive, but he wasn't a god(not in the level of Superman). As the show progressed, the writers abandoned these logical boundaries to maximize shock value. They built him up as an unstoppable, Superman-level force with zero physical weaknesses. By the time they needed to kill him off, they realized they had written a character who literally couldn't be beaten by anyone on the canvas. And the only thing the writer could have written to kill him was the virus angle but they ruined that angle as well with unnecessary V1 😑😑... V1 that we never heard of from S1 till now😂😂😂 I wish #ElonMusk had had #EricKripke arrested 😑😑 #Theboys #Theboysfinale #Homelander

they could have ended the show but they didnt, so you are saying its good writing that they jsut did the same thing again? The ending of season 3 was: "Just removing his powers didn't work." It focused the entire narrative on the relationships with his son and father. Literally his dad could have killed him later and decides not too, proving that the show was more interested in the people dynamics. But they just ingored it, but SolderBoy on ice and repeated season 3.

Homelander is a soulless, tortured child who doesn’t know why he wants to be alive. The show was an exploration of what kind of narrative such an empty, evil individual would have to tell himself in order to maintain any ambition whatsoever. He gets there by trying to be “god” as a sign of inhumanity. But they didn’t really explore that at all. They just killed the soulless, tortured child as punishment for his bad behavior and disregarded the biggest part of the narrative. Why would Homelander truly care about anyone? That’s the question. Throughout the entire show, he gets humiliated by the few people who might have made him feel less alone (his potential mother betrays him, his potential father is also an undying god who neither respects nor wants him, etc., all love interests turn worst case: rejected from his own family with Becca, rejected with his first girlfriend Maeve, first real love Nazi grandmother who doesn’t care who he is just what he represents in her world, all friendships betray him, deep pathetic, starlight terrorizes against him, noir betrayed him etc.). His entire life, he has never had any single human friendship. How could he ever end up with anyone and it would work? That’s the question the show is asking. Because even at the end his own son is ridiculing your entire world. He has no one. The promotional clips were literally just Homelander as a child accidentally killing “new moms” in the lab because he wanted to hug them after finally feeling close. It’s such a tragedy, and they only wanted us to feel that obvious moment where he begs for his life. What wasted potential. It seems like knowing that he wouldn’t die like a hero was obvious after episode 1 already, but does he learn or experience anything actually new until then? The answer is no, he’s a pathetic child and he would suck dick to survive, that’s funny and that’s the narrative territory they want to end this show with.

The discourse around The Boys finale is insane. Like, why were you pissed that a truly evil person got humiliated and died? Or were you just too stupid to realize that the guy that wanted to kill a baby in episode 1 out of fear of being upstaged by it would be a little bitch without his powers?

@Kristo67501283 Everyone with a brain knew homelander was a loser, but the entire story is that he is man-made. They didn’t explore that at all.

@blurayangel The writers did a good job with world building but they projected their own hatred onto their product. Sadly. Homelander was man-made. That’s the entire paradox of him.

@therealKripke @TheBoysTV The entire idea of Homelander was that he was a man-made monster. At the end he gets punished for how humans raised him. Seems unfair and lazy. So much potential was wasted on all the great world-building from Seasons 1-3.

As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.

I think even this would have been ok if they just showed him actually raging a bit, like having him start killing people so everyday Americans and other supes understand that he has gone too far. It's like he was close to exploding for 5 seasons, and in the end he just ... dies ...
