#UPDATE: @SouthMetroPIO with assistance from @WestMetroFire dive teams have recovered the body of an adult from Cherry Creek Reservoir. Initial information indicates a group of adults were on a raft when it overturned. Two adults made it safely to shore, and one adult did not. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is leading the death investigation. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified. @CPW_NE

Update: SMFR Dive team along with @WestMetroFire @CPW_NE and @ArapahoeSO are working a water rescue operation. 2 individuals made it to shore, looking for one individual.

Crews continued searching overnight. Recovery operations resumed at 9am. The search area of the reservoir will be closed to park visitors and please respect that closure.

🪶 Time flies when you’re rehabbing raptors. This golden eagle spent the winter at our Frisco Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. This spring, District Wildlife Manager Doug Purcell released it back near where it was originally found injured outside Pagosa Springs.

Little fish with a big impact. The northern redbelly dace is our "canary in a coal mine" for groundwater ponds. If you find dace, you know that water has stable temps, no predators, and minimal pollution. We stocked the species on @forestservice land in CO for the first time.

This evening, we recovered a child drowning victim from Cherry Creek Reservoir. It's a heartbreaking day and our thoughts are with everyone affected.

Update: The SMFR Dive Team is on scene at the swim beach searching for an individual who is reported to be missing in the water. Rescuers are using sonar equipment to assist with the search. Media staging is under the pavilion at the swim beach.
