Why I am a #Hindu (A Series - Part 2) #Hinduism has equality in gender. Where Lord Ganesha is the god of wisdom, Maa Saraswati is the goddess of learning. Our gods and goddesses both carry weapons and vanquish evil. Our gods and goddesses both grant boons.
Apoorva@crazyfelinelady

Why I am a #Hindu? (A Series - Part 1) #Hinduism does not distinguish between fair and dark - Shri Ram, Shri Krishna, Maa Kali are all worshipped with great reverence in our religion.

Asha Bhonsle was not cast out of her family. She eloped. The Mangeshkar family didn't say that they didn't want her back. They were with her and supported her throughout her career. She was the flighty one in the family. While Lata worked so that she could feed the family, Asha was obsessed about love. It didn't end well. But that didn't mean that the Mangeshkars didn't accept her. She was given a stern talking to (which was normal during that era when a 16 year old girl ran away from home). You really should recheck your sources before you post such things.

Asha Bhosle was cast out by her own family at 16. She’d eloped with her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar’s secretary, a man twice her age. The marriage turned abusive. She walked out with two children and a third on the way, returning to a family that barely wanted her back. To survive, she took every recording job the top singers rejected. In Indian cinema, actors don’t sing their own songs. Singers record in a studio, and the actors lip-sync on camera. In the 1950s, the big films went to established voices. Bhosle got the leftovers: B-grade soundtracks, cabaret numbers, songs for the villain’s girlfriend. Between 1948 and 1957, she recorded more songs than any other singer in the country, but almost none of them mattered. Her break came from composer O.P. Nayyar, who gave her the lead songs in Naya Daur (1957). For the first time, she was the voice of the heroine. By the mid-1960s, she’d partnered with a young composer named R.D. Burman. Their first major collaboration nearly didn’t happen. When Bhosle heard the westernized dance number “Aaja Aaja” for Teesri Manzil (1966), she told Burman she couldn’t sing it. He offered to rewrite the music. She refused, rehearsed for ten days, and delivered one of the decade’s biggest hits. That professional partnership became a marriage in 1980. Burman died in 1994. In 1981, composer Khayyam asked her to sing two notes lower than usual for the film Umrao Jaan. The ghazals (traditional Urdu love songs) she recorded won her India’s National Film Award and shattered the idea that she could only do pop. At 62, she recorded the Rangeela soundtrack with A.R. Rahman. At 79, she made her debut as a film actress. Guinness World Records certified her in 2011 as the most recorded artist in music history. She put out over 11,000 songs in more than 20 languages across eight decades, and no other recording artist on Earth has come close. Her voice crossed borders in ways almost no Indian artist had before. Cornershop wrote “Brimful of Asha” about her in 1997, and a Fatboy Slim remix sent it to No. 1 in the UK. The Black Eyed Peas sampled her vocals. The Kronos Quartet, a classical string ensemble, recorded an album of R.D. Burman compositions with her and earned a Grammy nomination. Earlier this year, at 92, she appeared on a Gorillaz track. She outlived the people closest to her. Her daughter Varsha died in 2012 at 56. Her son Hemant died of cancer in 2015. Her sister Lata, the most famous singer in Indian history, died in 2022, also at 92. After Varsha’s death, Bhosle told reporters the pain would stay with her until her last breath, but added: “You should always laugh with others but cry alone.” Asha Bhosle died today in Mumbai at 92. She recorded her first song at 10, her last collaboration at 92, and spent the 82 years in between proving that the woman they once threw out could outlast every voice that came before or after her.

Everybody knew that he was accused in the Gandhi case and everybody also knew enough of Savarkar to know he would not have shied away from telling the truth. It's just you lot who believe in Congress propaganda and know nothing about Savarkar's teachings or beliefs that go around talking smack about him. We, in Maharashtra, have always admired Savarkar for the nationalist that he was and the role he played in the freedom of India.

@Sydusm I think it's the Marathi angle, not Hindutva. No matter what he says. In Maharashtra Savarkar is seen as a freedom fighter, not many are/were aware of his Hindutva side or even that he was an accused in the Gandhi assassination case. Congress failed to publicise that.

And when the average Islamist terrorist sees you, he will see nothing but a non-Muslim and fire at you. I hope when that happens, you remember that you chose to be a humanist, secular, atheist, and a rational progressive. And I hope you also realise that day that none of it matters to the Islamists that you are so quick to defend.

Delusional kids who have never learnt about the emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi. Do not have a single idea about the number of artists, books, and even instruments banned because they offended the Gandhi family somehow. Have not lived through a time where bomb blasts were commonplace. And have not lived through a highly underdeveloped India, particularly the North East states, deliberately kept so, in order to "prevent war". Their ignorance shows through such posts.

…amazing, even such a qualified person is a servant of the regime that ordered the rape of virgin female prisoners arrested for raising their voice against forced hijab, as they wanted to avoid their entry to jannat. What’s the point of such qualification then? Btw, Om Birla is a postgraduate in commerce and also doesn’t believe in such superstition that would make him support such evil like what the Islamic regime of Iran does.

First, using the term andhbhakts to describe people who are simply defending their country from someone who has never written an unbiased piece on India, is very telling of your mindset. Second, India does not need to be a geopolitical power. We need to look out for our own interests without getting into everyone's business. Thirdly, India provides medical and financial assistance to countries around the region with no discrimination. We provide medical aid to both Iran and Saudi and neither have condemned us. We get a lot of political goodwill. Geopolitical power comes with having to stand with one or the other country when it comes to war. India is multi-aligned. We will stand witb everyone in times of crisis but we will not be party to your war. None of these points have occurred to Dan because he writes everything from a Pakistani perspective. Just because it is written by a foreign writer doesn't make it true. You need to get over the colonial hangover in your blood.

The arrogance of andhbhakts in the comments will prove him right. We need to realise India has started to reflect its leaders - all optics and no class or substance. A great country reduced to just a market filled with vile, hypernationalist, religious nuts.
Dan Qayyum@DanQayyum

The world doesn't see India as a geopolitical power. It sees India as a market. That is not an insult. It is a commercial reality its leadership has spent a decade failing to convert into anything else. New piece. Full forensic breakdown.

Despite no positive outcome from the talks, for #Pakistan to have managed to bring together high-level officials from the US and #Iran for the first time since the 1979 Iranian revolution is a massive diplomatic coup for Islamabad. I'm certain it will be asked again in the near future.

Look how poor & low-IQ you are. 1. Thinking that Pakistan PM is the head of the state. 2. Thinking that their Army would approve PML-N flag or its colours. 3. See point 1 again. 4. They called themselves Global Peacemakers and patted themselves on the back everywhere. They celebrated the peace talks by putting up a billboard. No mediating country would be caught dead doing this. You seem to have ignored all of that and think that insulting your birth country is something cool.

While working in HDFC Bank, Only one Muslim ever dared to call me "Pinky" when I wore a pink dress to office. He complimented me saying I was looking all pink and beautiful like a Pink Rose and that he will call me Pinky from that day onwards. His name was Suhail Sheikh. I told him to never dare cross that line and never compliment me or give me any name. I told him I didn't need his praises and that he should stay only professional with me. He stared at me, I glared back with anger. Then he said sorry, and after that day, he tried to act so innocent. I never paid attention even once. Compliments from dear ones should make us happy, but from Ms vultures should be taken as insults and they should be insulted in return, so they never try on other Hindu females also.

Thank you once again to Hon. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. The Islamabad talks stand as a defining and historic moment etched in history. Pakistan continues to demonstrate that diplomacy is not an event, but a continuous process of dialogue, engagement, and negotiation. Insha’Allah, these outcomes will advance regional stability and global peace. A proud moment for the nation reflecting Pakistan’s maturity, resilience, poise, and credibility, and a powerful signal of confidence both at the national and global stage that Pakistan’s future is in capable, forward-looking, and transformational hands, guided by purpose and national interest. Diplomacy at its peak, and a true reflection of world class arrangements over the past four days for international guests and diplomats, showcasing Pakistan’s hospitality, exceptional professionalism, and global standing, along with renewed confidence as a neutral and credible peace negotiator on the global stage Alhamdulillah Pakistan Hamesha Zindabad.
