This was loving mother of four Nurit Berger, 59. She was an avid bird watcher, loved flowers, animals and nature. Her house was filled with bird ornaments. On Oct 7th, her home in Netiv Ha’asara was one of the first targets of the attack, being just 300m from the Gaza border. As terrorists descended on her home, including those on paragliders, she ran to her bathroom to seek cover. They threw a grenade inside. She was blown up in the explosion. Her devoted husband Alon rushed to the bathroom after hearing the explosive but it was too late. “I kissed her a few times…I really, really loved her.” The rest of the family suffered injuries from shrapnel and bullet wounds but were able to escape.
