Swapped my GPU out for my old 1080 Ti to sanity check Spartan Engine. Then fired up Doom: The Dark Ages for fun, and of course I fully agree with their decision, we have to move on.

@createthematrix @Bloodywood2 Would be fun game, but I dunno how its gonna be received. IIRC smite devs got into some hot water for adding hindu gods. I'd love an open world-ish take on Mahabharatam though

I’d love to see a God Of War game based on Hindu Mythology featuring @Bloodywood2 for background score.

@panoskarabelas @redorav Maybe you can cut a hole and create a fake chimney and drop those headphones under her Christmas tree 🤣. Perfect time to do that

I've lived in my second-floor flat for 6 to 7 years without any issues with any downstairs tenants. But the current one is ridiculously sensitive. She texts me constantly, asking me to keep it down over the most normal sounds, like walking to the kitchen or accidentally dropping my TV remote. I’m talking about basic, everyday noise that comes with existing in your own home. I have to be dead to be quieter. Honestly, it’s exhausting. Thoughts? Anyone else dealt with this?

I've avoided making my path tracer an editor for simplicity sake but recently realized how much easier debugging would be with some limited functionality. So here we go, first prototype of material editing

@dieter_debaets @kenpex Thank you! I knew it would have to be defined somewhere. Just didn’t know where to look. I like the implementation idea of dividing out the missing 4th sample

@createthematrix @kenpex it is actually defined what you should do for corners in section 7.18.12 of the spec, see #7.18.12%20TextureCube%20Edge%20and%20Corner%20Handling" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">microsoft.github.io/DirectX-Specs/…

bilinear filtering a cube map question: normally we sample a 2x2 on a face (or edge) and apply weights. What happens in the corner of a cube? 2 of the neighbors points to the same pixel right? do we treat it as a triangle and use bilinear weights as barycentric coordinates ?

@kenpex anything outside the thinner lines would have 4 adjacent pixels, even if its on the edge

@kenpex i am curious know what D3D spec says about this. Also i'm implementing this on the CPU so in my case HW impl doesnt really matter. Looking at the sample point (X) there's only 3 adjacent pixels instead of 4.

@createthematrix @panoskarabelas Man, that sounds like a hell of a lot of work. I'll probably just have to take your word for it then, since I haven't spent much time on dx12..

You fix all the Vulkan validation errors. You update to the latest SDK. More errors. The cycle continues, forever 🌀
