In 2021, Canadian media and institutions basically hallucinated the discovery of 215 children’s bodies in a mass grave near a former Catholic residential school. The evidence: radar saw soil disturbances that could have been tree roots. A wave of church arsons ensued.
People making the case for censorship often urge that destructive manias like this can be suppressed/soothed if we prevent people from communicating about them. And here was a perfect case: false information was being recklessly (or maliciously) amplified, leading to literal hate crimes. Shouldn’t the censors do something?
But the mass-grave craze infected the censorship class, so opposition got targeted instead. At least one “disinformation” NGO categorized skepticism as “hate speech,” and Canada even saw efforts to criminalize so-called “denialism” (drawing an absurd comparison to the Holocaust).
Good for the Globe and Mail to come clean.

Wow. The editorial board of the Globe & Mail just flat out admitted that it screwed up by failing to scrutinize the false 2021 claims that “unmarked graves” had been “confirmed” at Kamloops. It’s taken five years, which is a disgrace, but give them credit for finally saying it

Capping voting age at 65 or restricting suffrage to net-taxpayers will probably be necessary at some point to prevent pensioners from completely crushing workers & businessmen (by their nature 18-65). Inverted age pyramids were not something contemplated by democracy theorists.

Beauty is not particularly relative, it is not equal, it is not a reflection of "tolerance" or "equity"
It is a physical manifestation of excellence, and so the egalitarian left hates it
Naturally, those women who don't want to have to make themselves ugly in the name of equality are gradually drifting to the right in a general sort of way, not out of any care for most of the policies, but because the left is increasingly both aesthetically gross and morally opposed to anything that is not aesthetically disgusting

@megha_lilly Not true. If a hoe, promiscuous woman or even outright prostitute/porn actress gets married to a man who is tall, handsome, rich and spoils her and even gives her kids, she married a high value man. Just because the man married a low value woman, doesn't mean he was low value!

The whole blended family thing isn’t great for children. But divorce ends up being good for the man far more often than for the woman. Men remarry sooner, and at higher rates, and usually to a younger wife with whom they are more likely to have more children. They achieve higher earnings post-divorce, too.
I’ve seen men who were held back by bad wives, and divorce freed them of that burden. It’s ironic, because most divorces are initiated by women. But that just goes to show that they are the more irrational sex and often are not capable of managing their own affairs to their own benefit. Which would explain why prior generations did not let them make such decisions.

Marriage is a bad deal for men under all circumstances short of ownership over wife and children. Status quo not only permits no fault divorce, but considers it an inalienable right to introduce "step-parents" into children's lives. You have no legal defence to object to this.

Viktor Orban didn’t cancel any elections and never arrested people for social media posts. He also stepped down after his election loss and is partaking in a peaceful transfer of power.
But, don’t forget, he was a dictator.
Keir Starmer attempted to cancel about 1,000 local council elections next month and arrests about 12,000 people a year for social media posts. He also refused to let a rival run for a seat in a by-election because he was worried it would be a threat to his leadership.
But, don’t forget, he’s a democratic leader.

Woke era really created the worst set of sexual mores possible where obnoxious license was made obligatory as long as it was sufficiently disgusting and heterosexuality was outlawed. NXIVM did NOTHING wrong besides live the American dream the way the founders would have intended if they even thought of that shit first. MeToo made college kids afraid to do drunk hookups and rock stars afraid to bring girls on their tour bus. Wtf is the point of having a degenerate society if you are going to ban all the normal sex that is actually good?
You really can't trust women with anything, especially the notions of consent and safety. If you want to be safe and consent to things you are better off dead, because nothing in this world worth a hoot involves either of those. Consent is only enjoyable if you're brainwashed into it despite your best intentions. A sobbing heap on the floor wondering how it all came to this. How this could have happened.
It's called life, bitch. It happens like shit does. To you its a tragedy but to me it's just a statistic. Now if you don't want your next performance to be posting face on the side of a milk carton, it's time to put on your game one on right now. "Hard right" or "far right" simply means that they are skeptical of mass immigration into Europe.
If you don't want extreme and unprecedented mass immigration of very different peoples into your countries, that is called "far right".
But these are obviously normal views, and are indeed shared by a large share of the population. Just not so much within the media who come up with these terms.
In a more sensible world it would instead be all the other parties, those that support continued mass immigration, that should be called far left, or mass immigration extremists.

A debate worth having: to what extent is this Hard Right surge the result of a flawed taxonomy? If your “hard right” European political party has accepted EU membership, the Euro, LGBTQI+ rights and renounced racialism and antisemitism — how is it not simply a conservative party by 1990s standards?

Big picture summary: Boomers were the biggest generation ever but chose to have 1.5 kids rather than the 3.5 kids needed to support them in old age so they replaced the missing kids with random people from around the Third World and it is going about as well as you would expect.

I lived in Hungary for several years under the Orbán dictatorship.
The funny thing was, people could and did say whatever came into their heads, protests were held in front of the parliament, there was a gay cruise bar down the road and Orbán held elections.
And yet, the country was a dictatorship.
Whereas in the UK, people tend to be distinctly guarded and if they do say the wrong thing very publicly, they get locked up.
And yet, it's a free country.
Once you understand that words can mean whatever we want them to mean, it begins to make sense.

One of the reasons for the rightward shift in politics is that as we become a post-literate society and the image becomes primary, the content of the political argument becomes visual and moves beyond the socially received consensus that left-wing politics depends on.
Images tend to be reactionary, appealing to aesthetics or provoking disgust. These more primitive feelings tend to be reactionary.
The basis for “the left can’t meme” observation. The left can’t meme because their thought eschews the aesthetic, which makes them weaker in the age of the image.
