Hey folks, We were planning to share this video with you in early January as part of the bigger Season Start moment, but since some early speculation is making the rounds, we felt we should share it earlier. Patch 25.23 Preview! Apologies for the late preview, was on a plane! Hope you all enjoyed Worlds and the games, getting Silver Scrapes in the finals was such a treat. I'll write up some of my thoughts later this week. Zaahen - Zaahen will also go Live this patch! Hope you're all excited!! - We wanted to have many throwbacks and homages to Xin Zhao throughout his kit, while also giving him that Darkin flair (eg. vamping, lifesteal and revive?!) - Interestingly, Zaahen started out as a support! But after some testing, we pivoted him to Top lane as it would allow him to better execute on his power fantasy - We think the revive this time will be better balanceable as the "on demand" nature of previous revives was typically what made them problematic to balance and he does have to either fight for a long time or land a lot of multi-hits to trigger it, which if he's doing that, we think is probably deserved - The team really cooked, we're so excited for him - I'll add a few more thoughts and behind the scenes insights tomorrow Alternate Junglers - This patch, we're looking at a lot of novelty oriented changes around adding new champs into the jungle (and some old ones) - Many regions suffer from high jungle autofill rates and being able to play your mains when you're autofilled we think is overall net positive - Some of these changes are more experimental (we're trying Fizz in the jungle for example), but will be monitoring closely to see how they shake out Mel - Thanks to Faker for raising visibility on Mel, we're making some relatively power neutral adjustments that move power out of some of her high frustration and lower counterplay builds (eg. E max) into other places with higher counterplay and interactivity (eg. Passive) - The E max build in particular is pretty fire and forget and is looking quite a bit stronger than Q max in many situations - This is relatively unintuitive to players and lower gameplay, so we're making adjustments to it Mundo - Recently, the team found a quite impactful bug where Mundo was getting max damage at 30% missing health instead of 70% missing health - While it didn't result in a change in his winrates overall (he was still balanced around this), it did change his overall power budget, so the damage is being adjusted back up to compensate - Despite his recent rise to fame in several series' 🙃, we still think he's overall pretty balanced, but just has pretty sharp success/failure cases which seems OK for now (might re-consider later) Vlad - As one of the beneficiaries of the sustain nerfs in previous patches, Vlad has benefited quite a bit, so we're tapping him down a bit and making him more vulnerable in top lane especially

@RiotPhroxzon I want to post my top frustrations as a Flex Queue player; When I duoqueue with a friend in Flex, we matchmake with another 3-man group and the jungler pug usually ignores/weaksides us as we bot/supp. 2. It feels really bad when I duo queue flex and the enemy team is a 5-man.

ARAM Clash This weekend, we're running ARAM Clash again. Please send any bugs and issues along and will make sure we work with the teams to determine next actions. The team was aware of the cards giving 10 champs, instead of the 15 compared to prior Clashes, but weren't able to get a fix in in time. It will be fixed for next time. Clash Stability The start of the year has been a bit rocky with March and April clashes not living up to our expectations in terms of experience we want to deliver to y'all. It's really regrettable when people get the gang together only for the experience to crash out, fail to get into game 2, etc. and we're really sorry for that experience. Team has been hard at work stabilizing services, improving our testing methodologies and thanks to the folks who stay on-call every clash weekend to immediately triage any issues. I want to re-emphasize that we're not abandoning Clash and are pouring more effort into it than before to get it to the level for y'all. Recent Performance April: Our error rates were peaking around 4%. This was really high and not the bar we want. There were social media threads everywhere and caused us to cancel Clashes in some regions and run make-up Clashes in others. It manifests as brackets failing to get to Round 2, team formation issues, game completions, etc. The team worked fast to find and fix a lot of the root cause issues. May: Error rates in May were 0.78%; this is back to where they were for 2024, but we still want to do better. June: 0.96% error rate; found and fixed a bunch more root cause issues of failures July: 0.31% error rate August (today): Fingers crossed that all goes well today and tomorrow Focusing on Social Play One of our core focuses this year has been on Social play. We know League can be really hard to get into and being able to play with friends is critically important for everyone to have a good time. Especially in groups with large skill gaps. This is why we've focused a lot on things like Brawl, adding new ARAM maps to make ARAM a nice place to play with the whole group, getting Clash up and running reliably, etc. Flex Queue is another opportunity for us, we know matchmaking quality there is not the best and have a lot of aspirations to make it better. Would love to hear your suggestions for other things that would scratch that social itch.

@drewlevin It's been over 2.5 years since the last support champ was released. The current champ release cadence is demoralizing as a support main. Do players prefer the slower champ release schedule? There's so many yet-to-be support champ concepts I want to play while I'm still young. :(

Even after all these years, it's still so nerve wracking to see the response to the new season and thanks to all the folks who worked so hard on it this year. Some clarifications for things people have been bringing up: * Feats rewards are in place of first blood and first tower gold * There are a few changes that impact the power of scaling champions, we'll ensure that they still feel good to play in the new objectives world * Feets of Strength boots rewards are intended to be a small power spike (eg. around 5 to 10ms) that doesn't Snowball the game a lot immediately, but is also exciting at 2nd/3rd legendary item timing * Atakhan only spawns once * Atakhans Voracious form (Red) drops a version of Guardian Angel that whisks the dying champ back to safety in base and giving them a (functionally) shorter death timer and not giving over full kill gold/xp * Teleport is an untargetable dash that can be canceled on damaging the person in their 3s channel intended to nerf early game use cases but be a bit stronger later What are you most excited about?

#LeagueOfLegends Today is the worst I've felt as a League fan. As a player for 13 years, a third of my life, I have not once felt like League was in a downturn. Stats or rumors of lower player counts in NA don't cause this for me; it's treating League like a product to be sold.

Hi all, Just gonna provide some commentary on some thoughts of a few recent topics Trist & Corki - High MMR and Pro has been pretty stale because of these champions recently - AD champions mid have gained priority due to some intentional shifts in opening the champions you can pick in AP Jungle - We felt this was necessary to bolster role diversity and increase the health of the jungle role - We're going to look into any required systemic adjustments (absorb life, ap jungle tuning, etc.) and potential champion adjustments Red/Blue Side - We've been investigating this for a bit now - We've been working on some things to optimize for queue times, offrole/secondary parity, red/blue side balance and a few other things (eg. Autofill jungle vs not) - This problem is very difficult so will take a bit more time to go live, but we've been actively looking at it - We don't believe it's currently a significant problem outside of Apex tiers and so that's where we're focusing most of our efforts (though we are still trying to avoid autofill jg vs not for regular play) -> this is one of the reasons why we wanted to increase the viability of Champs played in jg role (eg. AP junglers) More detailed thoughts on Monday
