Assuming it is, everything intelligent makes mistakes, it comes with the territory, there is a real issue of who is responsible for this mistake. We do check the outputs of any industrial or automated process, *someone* has to check those outputs, someone with "skin" in the game, every process has QA. I don't have a problem with saying that AI could eventually do it fine, I have a problem with saying it can both do it and remain a non-person legally ^^ If no human is responsible, and the AI is, it has to be *actually* responsible, maybe we will get there eventually but it's going to take a lot more than "good enough at coding", it's a social and legal issue and finding good enough solutions to those with humans took millennia !

Ok, so I decided to go wild and try doing a project without writing a single line of code, let GLM 4.7 do everything. It's no vibe coding because I did make relatively detailed specifications and coding guidelines, but it was my first YOLO software project that isn't a toy I'm still reviewing the tens of thousands of LOC that madthing made over a few hours of runtime, it's going to need a few touchups and the UI part looks like my specifications weren't precise enough, but it's surprisingly good, after Gemini 3 and Claude slop, I was expecting to have to iterate a lot more to get anything near maintainable, but nope, it's pretty good and tasteful. There is some doubt about one privileged syscall it insists it needs that I will have to investigate, but it did document it and wrote a convincing justification, which to be perfectly honest, even a very good junior dev wouldn't have made the effort... This is going to be a problem, because you need a senior to write those guidelines in the first place, to review and ultimately own the responsibility for that code, and seniors had to be juniors once. I have no problem lying through my teeth to recruit juniors anyways, but that **isn't the issue**, the issue is that anyone with the potential to become great is going to use the tool, because that's what good engineers do... So either models get actual legal personship and can YOLO themselves into trouble, or the necessary competent humans in the loop are going to be a rapidly dwindling resource and actually mission-critical code is going to be more and more expensive instead of getting cheaper...
