The goth debate is interesting. Sex workers have always been counter culture and can definitely be goth. This is not about the women from that video BUT there are definitely women who use the goth aesthetic for only financial gain and don’t actually participate in the culture which I think is annoying. This is like the cosplay nerd debate. There’s def sex workers and sexy women who are actual nerds. But it does get exhausting that a lot of normies who don’t care about the animes, games etc got into it only for money. “Just let ppl have fun” no sorry I want to meet ppl who like the same things I like. The idea that you need to "earn" the right to wear black is exactly why people think the subculture is a joke. 🦇 Goth icons like Elvira built a legacy on this exact mix of horror and sexuality. Demanding a background check on someone's playlist or "effort" level before they're allowed to own their body and their hustle is just insecure gatekeeping. It's listening to the music, understanding the history and having the politics of a goth. It's fine if people like the look, doesn't make you goth though.
