Let’s be honest. Airdrops were never really just free money
They always had a purpose.
Turn the airdrop into marketing. Grow the user base.
For some projects, it was just a way to hide from the SEC😉
But in 2026, I think we can safely say the classic airdrop model is basically dead
The last airdrop I remember that actually felt somewhat meaningful for regular real users was Starknet
And to be fair, they did distribute a serious amount of money. A lot of people in the community were happy. I was one of the people who got the Starknet airdrop too, so thank you
But if we are talking about efficiency, did it help Starknet become popular? Did it help them build a real, active, living community around the project?

You can almost say that money was wasted.

From an efficiency point of view, giving a meaningful part of the airdrop to the people who have been talking about Polymarket for months and in some cases for years, would be one of the smartest marketing decisions they could make
Because the moment you reward these people, you don’t just "pay users"
You increase their loyalty.
You give them even more motivation to talk about the project
You turn the people who already carried the narrative into even stronger believers
And unlike a typical crypto airdrop, where thousands of sybil wallets can belong to one person who will never write anything except “farmed another project, thanks for the money,” here you have a real anti-sybil metric.
People literally passed Proof of Humanity day after day, year after year
They posted. They replied. They argued.
This is not some random wallet activity
This is actual human effort
Twitter became the reputation layer
And Polymarket creators already proved they are real humans in the most public way possible
Honestly, this might be the most genius anti-sybil filter of all time
