Tried building a Polymarket sports bot following a popular guide The concept is solid but found several places where the architecture actually breaks down 1. Claude API in the hot path is a bad idea. The guide says to pipe every tweet through Claude and wait for JSON back. In production that is 300-800ms latency per request By that time the market has already repriced. NLP should run offline as a preprocessing step, not sit between the news signal and the trade 2. "Every 2 seconds" is not a strategy, that is polling. Sportradar gives you a WebSocket. If you are still doing a pull every 2 seconds you lost the entire point of WebSocket and added unnecessary latency on top. Event-driven architecture, not a polling loop 3. XGBoost without a feature store breaks at inference time. During training you have clean historical features. During live inference you have to assemble features on the fly from multiple sources with different timing. Without a feature store you get train-serving skew and the model performs worse than your backtest. This is the classic trap 4. One wallet for all agents is a liability. The guide routes every agent through a single Polygon wallet. If one agent hits a bug and starts spamming transactions it locks up your entire capital. Separate wallet per agent, one master wallet for funding only 5. The 5% edge threshold is pulled from thin air. The correct threshold comes from your actual transaction costs: gas fee plus Polymarket spread plus slippage. For small positions that can easily be 3-4%. For larger ones it may be lower. A fixed 5% will either leave money on the table or let losing trades through The core idea of combining NLP signals with an ML model and a fast RPC node is sound.
