Bangalore, the city of blooms, is experiencing a rise in temperature. It is a true cosmopolitan city, a melting pot of diverse cultures, academic brilliance, entrepreneurial spirit and acceptance of diverse lifestyles. Communication is a breeze across languages and a vibrant life awaits. Here, modernity meets tradition, technology meets money. I have been here on and off since the late 80s, when the streets were nearly empty in the evenings, and now they are bustling with activity throughout the day and night. Bangalore has spread its wings, swallowing surrounding barren lands and lifting concrete to the skies. The sight of the blooming cherry trees in this season is simply breathtaking. #SomanathSpeak

We should have 3 languages, but marks in the 3rd language should not be considered for a pass/ fail/ class. International crude prices have gone through the roof in the last 1 month from around 70 dollars/barrel to around 122 dollars/barrel. Consequently, petrol and diesel prices for consumers have gone up all over the world. Prices have increased by around 30%-50% in South East Asian countries, 30% in North American countries, 20% in Europe and 50% in African countries. The Modi Government had two choices- either increase prices drastically for citizens of Bharat as all other nations have done or bear the brunt on its finances so that Indian citizen is insulated from international volatility. Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji, in keeping with his Government’s commitment of last 4 years since the conflict in Russia-Ukraine started, decided to take a hit on its own finances again to safeguard the Indian citizen. Government has taken a huge hit on it taxation revenues to ensure very high losses of oil companies (approximately 24 Rs/litre for petrol and 30 Rs/litre for diesel) at this time of sky high international prices are reduced. At the same time, export tax has been levied as international prices of petrol and diesel have skyrocketed and any refinery exporting to foreign nations will have to pay export tax. My gratitude to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji and Hon’ble FM @nsitharaman Ji for this very timely, bold and visionary decision!
ಕಳೆದ ಹಲವು ದಶಕಗಳಿಂದ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲೇ ಮಾದರಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ತ್ರಿಭಾಷಾ ನೀತಿ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಪೂರ್ವಾಪರ ಚರ್ಚೆ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ತಜ್ಞರ ಸಲಹೆ, ಪ್ರತಿಪಕ್ಷಗಳ ನಿಲುವು ಯಾವುದನ್ನು ಪರಿಗಣನೆಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಏಕಾಏಕಿ ಹಿಂದಿ ಭಾಷೆ ಕೈ ಬಿಡುವ ನಿಲುವು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದು ಆಘಾತಕಾರಿ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ SSLC ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಹಠಾತ್ ನಿಲುವು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗೊಂದಲಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾವು ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಿಕೆಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಕನ್ನಡ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆ. ಕನ್ನಡವು ನಮ್ಮ ಬೋಧನಾ ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನದಿಂದ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಕಲಿಕೆಗೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಅಭ್ಯಂತರವಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ದೇಶದ ಅನೇಕ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಅರಸಿ ಹೋದಾಗ ಕನಿಷ್ಠಮಟ್ಟದ ಹಿಂದಿ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಅರಿವು ಇರಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರಕಾರದ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಗೊಳ್ಳುವ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಯುವಸಮೂಹವು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬೀಳಬಾರದು ಎಂಬ ಕಾಳಜಿ ನಮ್ಮದು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಅನುಸರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ತ್ರಿಭಾಷಾ ಸೂತ್ರವೂ ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಅಸ್ಮಿತೆಯಾಗಿ, ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ನ್ನು ಸಂವಹನ ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಹಿಂದಿಯನ್ನು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನದಿಂದ ನೋಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಹಿಂದಿ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈಬಿಡುವುದಾದರೆ ಇದರ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಭಾಷಾ ತಜ್ಞರು, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ತಜ್ಞರು, ಎಲ್ಲ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಸಾಹಿತಿಗಳು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕವಾಗಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಕ ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಕೇವಲ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ವಿರೋಧಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರಕಾರದ ಮೇಲಿನ ದ್ವೇಷಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಚೆಲ್ಲಾಟ ಆಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸರಕಾರದ ತೀರ್ಮಾನ ವಿವೇಕ ರಹಿತ ಹಾಗೂ ಆಘಾತಕಾರಿ ಆದುದು.
