There has always been a pull towards spx A pull to pour your heart and soul into this vessel A pull to rediscover what values you believe in and wish to incentivise into the world A pull to express the deepest recesses of your soul A pull towards righteousness in a world that rewards ruthlessness This pull exists because for the first time ever, there is a global vessel that can capture our collective expressions of value The moral innovation is that this infinite vessel was pointed inwards, not outwards to the external world of mimetic desire and market forces This vessel asked its followers the simple question: “Express what truly matters most to you. What are your ideals?” To me, it asked what does it mean to be a good human, to be a good parent, to be a good friend and partner. There are no limits to the depth of this vessel. No authority or regulatory body to tell us what can or cannot be contained within it. It did for the collective soul what writing did for the mind. A blank tapestry for us to draw our own parallel system of intangible value that is free from the narrow valuation framework of traditional finance. In it we already find religion, philosophy, spirituality, aesthetics. Our hopes, dreams and desires. In a vacuum, expressions of our individual values and ideals are a purely subjective artefact. Like art, they remain expressions of individuality. But collectively agreed upon values with a built in layer of incentives is an emergent phenomenon that has never occurred before. This signals towards a deeper truth - that there are valuable “assets” that are not currently being expressed in our financial reality.
