Around midnight, @BankingGOP unveiled new crypto legislation. Among other flaws, it will turbocharge the massive conflict of interests posed by Donald Trump and his family's crypto ventures. No bill should move through the Banking Committee without real ethics guardrails.

Congratulations to Mayor Mamdani. He inherited a huge budget deficit, brought it down to zero, and still invested in childcare, housing and city infrastructure. When municipal governments stand with working families, not billionaires, there is nothing they cannot accomplish.

.@JamesTalarico: The reason Democrats lost support in South Texas and among Hispanic voters is because we took them for granted. We assumed they were a part of our base and we stopped showing up. We stopped competing for their votes.
I went down to the valley a ton and I listened. I heard their concerns primarily about costs. It's this cost of living crisis that's crushing people all over the state, but especially folks in South Texas.
You have to ask for someone's vote. You have to earn their vote. I think showing up and listening is half the battle in politics. It's what our party should do a better job of among all communities.

The female sex class has specific needs and issues, and the job of addressing these needs and issues at a political level is almost always given to a female. When such a female chooses not to defend women’s rights, because it would endanger their own personal status, that is worthy of comment. Of course it’s true that many men are in thrall to gender ideology too, but by definition, being men, they’ve never needed the rights they now seek to dismantle. A woman, though - unless she’s been unusually sheltered from birth - knows from her own life experience how important those hard won rights are, because she’ll have benefited from them. If she then achieves the kind of power and/or economic security that mean she has no personal need for state-run single-sex spaces and services, but uses her platform to decree that women without her protections no longer need what she herself used and took for granted, she is guilty of a particularly egregious hypocrisy.
