I understand it. It's cheaper to get the pears in Argentina, transport them to Thailand (where they are somehow still fresh) to pack, and then deliver them to America. It's still pretty stupid. We should have more efficient supply chains. Hopefully with automation this will be possible.

If Keir Starmer had said before the election that he would remove the winter fuel allowance from millions of pensioners, punish the disabled with welfare cuts, enforce digital ID, appoint Peter Mandelson as UK ambassador to the US, sell out fishermen to the EU, give away £millions of money to overseas net zero and farming projects while hammering UK family farmers with inheritance tax, ban coal mines and new oil and gas licenses in the North Sea yet import £40bn of oil and gas from Norway (from the m North Sea), massively increase the national debt, increase the tax burden to record levels, increase the government deficit to record levels, destroy business confidence with national insurance increases, council tax & energy price increases, raise university tuition fees, transfer sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius and pay £35bn in the process, plaster mass-scale solar panels on thousands of acres of prime farmland despite huge local community objections, talk tough on sorting out illegal migration yet small boats crossings have reached record levels, spaff £30bn of taxpayers’ money on carbon capture machines, give £3bn a year of taxpayers’ money to Ukraine and ratchet up hawkish warmongering rhetoric and get exposed for receiving over £100,000 worth of freebies - he almost certainly wouldn’t have won. He duped the electorate. An utterly shameless display of snake oil political salesmanship. And still he lectures all of us in that gratingly sanctimonious manner of his like we are all somehow the problem here.

@2147mill I do agree.. but other points to consider.. 1) renting is more expensive than a mortgage for same property 2) house appreciation over the 20 years 3) renting is shit, dealing with estate agents and landlords is horrible 4) if you overpayment your mortgage then you pay less

The average UK mortgage is £200,000 at 5% over 25 years. Total repayment? £350,000. You borrow £200K and pay back £350K. £150,000 straight to the bank. For nothing. Then you pay to fix up the house. Stuff breaks. You pay insurance monthly. Fees when/if you sell the property. And we act like renting is throwing money away. There is a strong argument for renting.

@smorberg18307 @mirexmoses Bran is the answer. He had just returned to Winterfell and was with Sansa and Arya for the first time. He told them about all of little fingers schemes in detail, things they would otherwise not know.

I hated this scene because he was so clever and I expected some bigger scheme to be involved. But they just needed him out of the picture due to focus issues so instead they figure out he’s bad and then murder him. It felt very put of nowhere and not like he did one critical mistake. He always turned people against each other, what made it any different this time?

@gentile_twins @TradesByDave @bensig I was as a teacher for 6 years. A teacher must assert authority in the classroom. Without it, a class gets out of control very quickly and will learn nothing. The majority of kids do not want to learn and struggle to concentrate. AI can only be a tool used by the teacher
